A Touch of Evil, The Supernatural Game

RE: A Touch of Evil, The Supernatural Game
Well the scale of FoD is way different from AToE,but the general
theme of finding the & then confronting the evil enity
is a good fit(as mentioned).

Ghost Stories does appear very close but the "Far East"
setting dosen't grab me like AToE early 1800's US setting.

Betrayal at Hill House-I' never played(my group doesn't
care for "Trator"type games)but I know many people like it
& its ebay prices are impressive.

I've seen where a few people have got their hands on AToE
at GenCon over on BGG so I hope we can get some early
player reviews.

Those books sound cool OD!

Fantasy Flight Games...sucks?!!!

I think they have some of the best games out there. Some of my favs are: Descent, Doom,World of Warcraft The Board game, Arkham Horror, Twilight Imperium, Tannhauser, Fury of Dracula, Warrior Knights, Runebound...yeah I'm a big fan.

But then again I am a HUGE board game nut.

OK you've probably checked this out at BGG but
it helps keep my post count up:rolleyes:

Its the best view of the AToE Map yet-its primitive
but I really like it sort of sets the 1800's mood.

Plus if you wanted to expand a homebrew map would
be easy to duplicate(well those of you here that have real graphic talentZombie03 )

If you over at DE GEEK note an early review from GEnCon is up:cool:
This is getting harder to wait for by the day.

RE: A Touch of Evil, The Supernatural Game
I have to wonder if that rather smallish..non modular looking board may grow stale very quickly.

Not if the gameplay is varied and fun, but I'm a bit worried about the size of it.

That could be, even with 4 evil enties , their own minions,& changing
village elders secrets after a while with the same group its "not another visit to the windmill".But until then it should be a nice rideZombie03

A couple of expansions during the year would help this & the board
design would make it easy to just create another town with new
locations & enties,cards.

FFP seems to have games on a production (Mars Invasion in 09)
schedule so they may or may not have expansions for AToE
in mind-then again they suprised me with getting out GH fairly
quickly after LNoE.

I was also thinking of using my Arkham Horror Boards with AToE
system (I love AH but rarely have the time to invest in a game
& if I do others don't).I also have an old Board Game Minion Hunter
that involves moving around a city & building up your "Hunter"
& taking on various Dark Plots & beings. Its set in the near future
but with a little home brew could pass for..say Baltimore in the
early 1800's.

Oh well its probably another month before I have AToE so I'm
getting way ahead of myself

It makes me sad that those of us who pre-ordered will have to wait until AFTER those than could make it to Gen-Con this year.

They made a special effort to get it there. the music cds weren't in the box because they hadn't shipped to china yet so FFrog had them ship the cd to them and they handed them to you when you bought the game. They also had a small expansion ala "stock up" for 10 bucks. It doesn't come out til October! They put it on for us. oh and the girl in the minuteman costume, rowr....

I couldn't buy one as the line was so long and SLOW moving. I hope they have enough tomorrow!

Interesting so we get another CD......I hope it goes better with the game
than the LNoE!

RE: A Touch of Evil, The Supernatural Game
I'm not worried that the board has fixed positions. Actually I find we have been spoiled lately, with a lot of games having modular boards.
It all depends on how important the map is to the game system. I've been playing Talisman sine the eighties and am still having fun. Modular boards would not even bring anything important to this game!
So let's see how the mechanics work before we worry about repetition.

RE: A Touch of Evil, The Supernatural Game
Zombie17 My edition of Talisman (3rd I think) has modular Boards
Expansions!Another great game I haven't play in awhile.

The Talisman Board appears to be a lot larger than AToE
Map/board & of course is more of a world setting than
the village of Shadowbrook.

I don't really see the Map as a problem either & for me
it really hits the game theme.

RE: A Touch of Evil, The Supernatural Game
Map looks great and if I have the time and after a few plays I find it worth it I will so make a 3D board version of it just for fun. :P

NOW you've done it:cool:-this means finding figs to represent
the evil enties,& village elders & minions!

OD

PS-Again from the Geek:

Picked it up today. Here are the game contents from the rule book:

1 full color rulebook
1 folding game board
8 unique hero figures
50 card event deck
50 card mystery deck
20 card manor deck
20 card windmill deck
20 card olde woods deck
20 card abandoned keep deck
20 card lair deck
20 card secret deck
16 town item cards
6 town elder cards
6 curse of the werewolf cards
6 reference cards
8 large hero character sheets
4 large villain record sheets
4 extra large villain minon chart cards
4 full sheets of die-cut counters(this is a ton of counters)
16 small dice
1 CD soundtrack

I will go ahead and say that the box is packed to he rim. Jason Hill actually gave the CD separate, so I am not sure if that is because the box is overstuffed, of they couldn't get it in the box before the convention. After playing a little demo I liken it to Arkham Horror with less complexity. Of course this is after 1/2 game.
