A question from a new recruit

Hey Everybody,
Thanks for checking out my post. Hopefully this helps more than just me. I've been playing LNoE for about a year now. Something comes up repeatedly in our games and could not find any ruling on it anywhere but here goes. When a Hero searches and pulls a weapon from the hero deck that they cannot hold, due to having too many items or not enough hands, what happens to that weapon? Can the Here place it in their hand or must it be used immediately?

If you can't carry it, it must either be immediately given to someone else in the same space, or it must be dropped. (It's on page 12 of the main rulebook.)
