Flabbergasted!!
Ok, to start, this is not about amazon.com, it's more about the world we live in. Lately, my oldest son has been asking a lot of question about the world and with his new found super hero power of reading, he has been using the Internet to find answers. Recently he looked up Amazon. In looking for information on where and what it was he found that it is in fact in Seattle, Washington and that it is the worlds largest online retailer. He then asked me why I lied to him when I told him that he never had to worry about the scary animals and bugs that live there when the amazon is in North America with Nevada. I went through the pages that google gave us, and there were only two enteries for a rainforest in 4 pages of results. Now I understand that a search is only as good as what you enter but what are our kids supposed to do when they are looking for stuff like that. My sons trying to learn and explore, he doesn't know or think to enter rainforest after it... It the little things that irk me...

Big Business paying for search results. It is going to happen.

My son just typed in a random bunch of letters and numbers and got on some "Eastern Block" gun-porn site. That opened my eyes a bit.

Good opportunity to teach him about quality of the source. Wiki search (try simple english version, maybe) versus "show me everything google search".
