Cards that require certain characteristics
Hi there, was playing as the ZP the other night, and an issue arose.

I (in my non-paying attention mode) attempted to play "Haunted by The Past" on a "student" character.

Now, I know on the card that it "Can not be played" on a student.

I was forced to discard it by the group I was playing it, are there any rules about instances like this?

For example, I think that, because I made a mistake and didn't realize who my friend was playing as that I should have just been able to put it on a legal target.

Return it to your hand! Otherwise, it's a way to circumvent the "discard one [unwanted] zombie card per turn" rule.

I agree with mqstout - card goes back to the hand (at which point you can just replay if you have a legal target). Your HPs my have thought they were screwing you over by forcing you to pitch a fizzled card, but in the end, you have one less card in hand which is always better for the ZP.
