Cthulhu:Dark Providence
Common is milking its cash cow again with a just announced
Dark Providence Game. Not much info except it's a rethemed
Study in Emerald transported from Sherlock Homes England to
the 1920's US.The Game offer a 2 player Game & a Solo Game.

Looks like the Game is ready or near ready to go so probably not
a KS & more likely to be a preorder or direct release.

Here's a link to the announcement on You Tube.

(Looks like my resistance to buying new Games is breaking down,
but I'm waiting for more info.

PS- Here's a blurb from Comicbook Gaming:

CMON Games is expanding its line of Cthulhu-themed games. At CMON Expo USA this weekend, CMON announced Cthulhu: Dark Providence, a new game that reimplements the classic A Study in Emerald board game that was originally published in 2013. The game will be set in the same world as Cthulhu: Death May Die, a cooperative strategy game also published by CMON. The designers will bring in historical characters for Dark Providence, with Wyatt Earp, Nikola Tesla, and gangster Arnold Rothstein all mentioned as appearing in the new game.

A Study in Emerald is a team-based game, where players work to either support or resist the ruling Old Ones by drafting cards and building a deck to help control various cities. While players are all competing against each other to some extent, a player can only win if their faction ultimately succeeds in one of several victory condition. The player with the best score among the winning team ultimately wins the game. Therefore, players have to determine who is on their side and pursue cooperative goals, while also trying to be the dominant player

Dark Providence will also feature a solo and two-player modes, which weren't present in the original game. No release date released.

RE: Cthulhu:Dark Providence
Neverwhere is one of my top 5 books. Maybe top 10 if we consider huge serials and full series, which I generally end up preferring.

Anansi Boys is also one of the more memorable reads I've had.

Thus I was pretty surprised at how meh I found A Study in Emerald back when it was first published.

When the board game came out, I didn't ever look into it mainly for those reasons, but also because none of the mechanics sound like my kind of thing either. I don't think a minor shift in tone to the setting is going to change that for me.

Great to see CMoN branching out and exploring new space with one of my favorite themes though. Do share if you end up getting it.

RE: Cthulhu:Dark Providence
(from a post on BGG) COMON has announced Preorders will be available soon.
It would be nice to get more Info. but I don't expect to see a release until 1st Quarter 24
which could also see The C;DMD KS & the 2nd Ed Comics .

If so it would be a real overload.

RE: Cthulhu:Dark Providence
They put the preorders up a few days ago & I ordered but screwed it up.
I filled out the order form & hit send & my computer went down.
Thinking my order didn't go through I filled out the form again &
ordered.

Later that day I got 2 Notices confirming my order & 2 Notices my that
payment was deducted from my card.

I emailed Backer kit support & they confirmed I order & paid twice & that
I needed to contact COMON for a refund. So I've filled out & send the Refund
Request Form & sent if off to COMON. The automated reply was that COMON
was evaluating my request.

The Game price is pad $49.99 but preorders get $10 off & the C:DMD Inv.figs.
Shipping is terrible to S.Jersey it' $23.

Delivery date is Nov.2024
