RE: Diversity
I agree with Atraangelis (nicely put!) and Sean Collins here.
What is with all this PC correctness...being PC in real life is hard enough (if you bother with that) but wanting it to be in a fantasy game? That is just nuts.

Like stated before, the LNOE is based on the 80's zombiemovies and there was no diversity at all in those. Everyone was so stereotypical it became hilarious. And that is what I love about this game, I grew up on the cheesy zedflicks and I loved every minute of it and I love the experience we get here when we play with the characters. We even try to act like the characters when fighting, running, ...

Being from Belgium I do not know how things are in the US about being PC...but I guess it is not much different from here. Everyone is so damn afraid of being called something for speaking their mind that it is just plain ridiculous. I prefer straight up honest people...at least they do it in your face and not behind your back.

We need 2 redneck inbread brothers in LNOE!

I am the reason God stopped watching.

As far as houseruling cards like LNOE, I am against it, but purely for game balance reasons. I play as the Heroes and always draw random teams. Based on the luck of the draw, my team will be safe from certain skip a turn cards. Since skip a turn cards are extremely powerful, I am ok with some of them being dead draws for the ZP. If you start tweaking it to make the game/card PC, it makes those cards useful in every game, making the ZP that much more powerful.

It is odd tho, that the balance of the skip a turn cards is not entirely even, there is not Male/Male skip a turn card.
There is "This could be our last night on earth" Male/Female
"Catfight" Female/Female
and "Bickering" all Heroes in one space.

Making it so there is a heirarchy of team makeup for what is safest from skip a turn cards, to most succeptible.
All Male (Bickering only)
All Female/3 female + Father Joe (Bickering and Catfight)
3 Male/1 Female (Bickering and LNOE)
2 Male/2 Female (all 3 has potential to be played)

I agree, I have random hero teams too. Last game we managed to pull 2 female and 2 male characters, when they were in a square together, the card was dropped and two of the characters couldn't play for a turn, if I didn't have females on the team, the card would have been discarded and play would have gone on. I see no need to make it more PC. It's a game where you can turn your brain off from the crap of the outside world and have a laugh, not a political race where you have to tiptoe around everyone to make sure no one is offended!

On another note, I had a mate who played D&D (or something similar) and his character was a gay dwarf. He spent most of the games trying to crack on to one of the other male characters in his party. He found it fun and different to his real life, but some in the party didn't..

I don't have the materials right in front of me but I believe there is a townsperson named Principal Gomez! It would be cool if they made him playable as a character.

RE: Diversity
The House Rule for LNoE is pretty silly in my opinion. It's a game mechanic based on the movies, not a social message based on real life.

As far as cries of old school zombie flicks not being racially diverse enough, I would like to point out Night of the Living Dead and Dawn of the Dead as two of the best zombie films ever that include a black hero. Ben, from Night of the Living Dead, is easily one of my favorite heroes in all fiction.

In the event of a Zombie Apocalypse please do the following:
1. Grab a buddy
2. Grab guns
3. Start shooting

RE: Diversity
Not only does he look like Colbert, which is totally awesome, Stephen Colbert fighting zombies! ZOMBIE BEARS!!! Who probably vote democrat,(I don't affiliate with political parties so keep the bashing to yourself) now that would be something to see.

Principal Gomez vs JoJo The Dancing Bear from IFOS anyone?

I love Gomez for 3 reasons:

Looks like Colbert
His "Oh My God, He's a Zombie" card is boss
I'm Puertorican so, it's like yay, at least someone int he town is Latino, even if I can't play as them Insane19

RE: Diversity
Well, ok.....ummmm speaking about PC...or just im not sure what to call it.

I recently played Mall of Horror. It was kinda fun, i only played it once. There are 4 characters. A guy, a male security guard, a female pin up and a little girl. Pin up ? what does a Pin have to do with a Mall ? and if a store had more Pin Ups than any other characters, it was attacked. When i asked why, someone joking said, "cause they can smell blood" ha freak'n ha

STEAM an online zombie game, has similar characters. I only saw it once, but it had something like, Mike the Plumber, John the cook Bob the cop and Rachelle the girl. WTF "the girl" ???? what is that, they could not have come up with, waitress, maid, nurse, or even pin up ? Nope they just went with Rachelle the Vagina

Another game i witness, nope didnt play it either, we were all laughing to much at it. I forget the name. It was a D&D type game, pick a character and such. On one side of your character sheet was a guy, I like archers btw. So on the one side there was guy dressed in a leather hat, long sleeve leather shirt, full length leather pants and leather boots. Flip it over to the female side and she has long flowing hair that surely would get in the way, a leather bikini and leather thigh high boots ? ???

Ok if that was not dumb enough we looked at the Paladin card. A guy in full plate mail, helmet, gauntlets the full set. if it were not for the helm being open, showing a manly face covered with a beard and stache, you would not have known what was in it. Flip it over. Yup a metal bikini with chain mail string. Thigh high greaves. What was really stupid is they had the same Armour rating ?

So....ok, maybe LNOE does not have a good mix of diversity, But Nurse Becky has a shot gun. Jenny in her cut off jeans and cropped top has a chain saw. Sally in her mini skirt has a gun, Stacey has a mid length skirt, Jade...well she looks like a punk teen, an Amanda the Porn Queen. The only one dressed like she means business is Rachelle.

RE: Diversity
I think you are just taking it too far....Even if you just look at statistics the fact that there are more males in the world than females and more Caucasians than African Americans and there are more straight people than gay or bisexual. I mean the chances of running into a African American gay female now a days is still slim even with the changing ideas of the world. The game I still think didnt have any intentions other than to create a great game with a number of different characters....and the fact Amanda is considered beautiful has to do with the fact she is prom queen not what her picture looks like...they just tried to have someone pose that fit the bill per se.

Just let the game be the game it is and stop looking so far into it.

RE: Diversity
I think people like to feel included. If there is a character they can directly relate to then it’s probably easier to get into the game. Assuming that about 1 in 10 people are gay, we are due for a gay hero. I don’t know if, in that era, in a small town, that the character would be out and proud. I am sure that he or she would find some way of avoiding “missing his or her turn” with a member of the opposite sex.
Is it necessary to include more characters from minority groups? I don’t think so.
Would it make the game more inclusive and realistic? Yes, I think it would.
Would it ruin the game? I don’t think so, not if it was done sensibly.
