Greetings!
Hi, I am Jason, and I found this site through the Touch of Evil forums on BGG. Watchmen02

I am more a fan of the "supernatural/voodoo zombies controlled by an evil master" trope in gothic horror than the plague-spreading mindless zombies that are more popular today. That said, zombies in some form pop up in most of my gaming, and as I am just getting into A Touch of Evil and Shadows of Brimstone, I was told this is a great community for discussion and creativity. I LOVE generating my own content for my games, so this sounded right up my alley. :P

Cheers,

Jason

RE: Greetings!
Welcome Jason to TZG. Interesting point on Zombie Games, there are not many "Zombie Master" type games around.

Hope to hear about some of your own content. Our discussions
of late have been very sparse especially as Flying Frog has been
stuck in SoB.

How do you like AToE, it's my favorite FFP Game.

OD, thanks for the welcome! I just discovered ATOE and love it so far. It is reminiscent of two of my favorite Gothic Horror-esque solo play games- Arkham Horror 2nd Edition and Folklore the Affliction, but much more streamlined and fast-playing (I think it is fast-playing...unless I am doing something wrong :-P ). But it has got a flavor all its own, and I really like how the gameplay builds a narrative as you go along.

I am a modder by nature-I try my hand at writing rules tweaks and additional content for most games I play, but I am trying to restrain myself until I get a better feel for how ATOE plays with different heroes and villians. As it stands I am thinking of trying to write up stats and rules for these villians (unless, of course, someone else has beaten me to it. Watchmen02 ) :

The Wild Hunt and Huntsman

The Fairy Court (tho some would say this is just another name for the Wild Hunt!)

The Alchemist (thinking of a Blake-ian conjurer of daemons)

The High Priest of Azathoth (or another Elder God-my Arkham Horror roots compel to stamp out a Lovecraft-eque cult or two from time to time).

The Vorvolaka (similar to the Vampire, but more primal and beastly, and requiring a different strategy to kill).

I also have some ideas about a scenario (not dependent on the Villain being played) that would take place during the Revolutionary War. As a side-challenge, the Investigators would have to deal with incursions by Redcoats while fighting the supernatural threat. Kicking around a few ideas but not sure how to implement quite yet.

So that is the type of content I am interested in creating at some point soon, but it might be a bit too ambitious. Will keep posting once I get started. :-D

RE: Greetings!
Some cool ideas- I'm interested on your progress. A Few years back I converted Arkham Horror & its expansions to AToE (A touch of Lovecraft).
Alas I later revised it & 'lost' the GOO conversions. Here's one I was able to find.

Cthugha

Associated Gate=None

Attack =3
Wounds=5-only hit by non-magical weapons
on 6+(Spells & Magic enhanced weapons hit on 5+)

SPECIAL ABILITIES:

1.Rising Temperatures-all Inv.get -1 on movement roll ,but
1 is still 1.(Note only a Natural 1 generates an Event)

2.Each round of the Showdown Inv.must discard 2 Items,Allies
or Inv. Tokens or be knocked out.

3.When Showdown begins add a Fire Vampire to join Cthugha.
add 1 Fire Vampire for each participating Inv.These Fire
Vampires have 1 more wound than usual.

4.Nothing with the Keyword Fire effects Cthugha or Fire
Vampires.

MINION TABLE Roll d6:

1.Heat Stroke-Event-Roll d6 any town elder with Cunning
equal or less than # rolled killed.Each Inv.gains 1 Inv.Token
per town elder killed.

2.Conflagration-Event-discard top card of each Location Deck
Roll d6 on 4+ randomly remove from game 2 cards from Town
Item Deck

3-5.Fire Vampire Attack-Minion-Fire Vampire gets 1 free
attack then 1 round of regular combat takes place.

Fire Vampires

Attack=4
Wounds NA -only hit by non-magical weapons
on 6+(Spells & Magic enhanced weapons hit on 5+)

Inv.gets 1 Inv.Token for each Hit

When rolled place another Fire Vampire in a random location

6.Fire Bolt-Event-Inv.who triggered this Event must take
a 3 die Attack. Gets 1 Inv. Token for each die that missed.

Some of this stuff is on the AToE Variant Forum but you need to scroll a few
pages back.

RE: Greetings!
Hey, OD thanks! I love the idea of a Touch of Lovecraft. And I would like to try out your villian/mininos as written. The Fire Vampires are not the minions I was expecting, but I like them! You have my kind of imagination. Watchmen02

I think the Lovecraft world offers a lot of material that overlaps with the world of ATOE and could be fodder for more ATOE content. Thematically, there are some many references from various Mythos authors to Old One activity and cults in early North America. Rather than throwing everything from the Mythos into the mix at once, like Arkham Horror tends to, ATOE offers the chance to tell some smaller scale, more focused stories about the overlap.

If I ever get my hands on a "Coast" expansion (at a price I that doesn't require I sell a kidney!), I would also like to delve into some sort of Innsmouth-type scenario replete with Deep Ones, Hybrids, and an avatar of Dagon. Zombie24

Also interested into delving into one of my other favorite creepy colonial-era tales...the Jersey Devil! Unless someone else has already done this as well. Am looking forward to going through the forum here in detail.

Thanks again! Zombie17

Yak, that is amazing! Very inspiring stuff, you two..... Insane22 Zombie14Watchmen02 Insane20

And those templates are bloody awesome as well! Hat's off. I tried putting some templates of my own together for the major card types (customizers gotta customize!) using MS Paint, as I don't have Adobe. They turned out kinda meh, and I don't think I would share them here, but they are serviceable in a pinch. But nothing like yours for quality!

One oddity I have with big, epic games is that I have a hard time enjoying them with out proper, painted figures to represent heroes and creatures and the like. More often than not I appropriate proxy models from my tabletop wargaming collection (because I'm cheap!) I didn't get any gaming or work on custom stats done over the weekend, but I DID manage to knock together a customized Spectral Horseman and some ghostly soldier minions from some Old Glory odds and ends I had lying about. Getting jazzed about painting them and playing against the Horseman and his mob. Pics to follow....

Welcome aboard Dp007. AToE is my favorite FFP Game. Have you bought the Game yet?
I really enjoy the Game & it scales well for solo but I've found if you get beyond 3 players
it drags .
