Heroes travelling together
YOU ARE NOT ALONE
(Variant rule for A Touch of Evil, cooperative play)[align=center]
Reason for addition: During cooperative gameplay, the hero characters are separated in their travels, each going off to do their own activities. However, this does not reflect the cooperative nature of horror films wherein the heroes most often stick closely together to experience the adventures as a team. Adding this option may result in a better ‘story’ being told by the gameplay as heroes will team up and split off forming ‘Cadres’.

FORMING A CADRE
Heroes in the same space at the start of the Game Round may join together to form a ‘Cadre’. AT the start of a Game Round, any player can elect to leave a Cadre and take their turn normally.

CADRE ACTIVATION
Cadres will take their turn by the following: Individual Heroes always go first, according to the normal rules. A Cadre with a First Player will always go after the individual heroes. Then additional Cadres will move in order of who is the next to the left of the First Player (much like to order of individual heroes).

CADRE MOVEMENT
Cadres will move together in this way: each Hero in the Cadre will roll each roll for their movement as usual (including lingering, Event Cards, etc). Then the Cadre will average the results, rounding up, to determine their final movement result. Any modifiers to movement will affect the whole Cadre, including items and Abilities.

CADRE FIGHTS
When faced with a fight, the Cadre will battle as normal. The Hero that is chosen to participate in any fight is selected by the Cadre, and if no agreement is made, the Hero the highest Honor is selected. There are two other differences to consider:
-in between fight rounds, the Cadre may switch the Hero in the fight to another in the Cadre.
-if a Hero decides to Escape, they may do so alone (breaking from the Cadre) or the Cadre may all Escape together. The rules to Escape are unchanged in all other aspects.

CADRE ENCOUNTERING A SPACE
Corner Location: Before encountering a space, the Cadre will have three options: split into teams, each explore individually or stay together.
-Stay Together: before Encountering the Space, the Cadre will select a ‘leader’. It is wise to take into account the nature of the corner location you are exploring before choosing the leader. Lacking agreement, the Hero with the highest Honor is the Leader. When encountering a Space, proceed as normal and the results will affect the entire Cadre. If a non-fight skill roll is required, use the Leader’s skills but you may reroll one die once for every full two Heroes in the Cadre.
-Teams: Each team will perform the Encounter as in ‘Stay Together’, but only using those Heroes within the specific team.
-Split Up, individually: each Hero will perform the Encounter as normal.
In all cases, the Cadre is not broken for the turn unless an Escape is performed or the Heroes move away individually.
Dangerous Location: This is performed as normal, once for the whole Cadre.
Town Spaces: In these locations, the special actions can be performed by all within the Cadre, individually as normal.

CADRE AND INVESTIGATION TOKENS
Investigation tokens are gathered as normal, but using the Cadre as a whole in place of the individual Hero. The tokens gathered by the Cadre are split among the members.as evenly as possible. Any leftover goes to the one with the highest Cunning. If there is still a tie, the recipient is determined by the First Player.

CADRE GAINING ALLIES AND ITEMS
When a Cadre or Cadre Team GAINS Allies or Items, the Leader may choose who in the Cadre is the recipient.
CADRE AND PENALTIES
When the Cadre or Cadre Team is required to LOSE Skills, Wounds, Allies or Items, the Leader must be the one penalized unless another Hero in the Cadre volunteers. If the Leader has no Items or Allies but is required to lose such, the Cadre must select fulfill the penalty as best they can, with the Leader selecting the course of actions. If there is currently no leader selected, the Hero with the highest Honor is the Leader.

CADRE AND HEALING WOUNDS, BUYING LAIRS, AND LOOKING AT SECRETS
These actions are performed as normal, each hero having the option to perform them. However, they must be down collectively, meaning that when one of the Heroes in the Cadre performs the action, each individually must also choose to do so (or not) at that time or lose the chance for that Game Round.

CADRES AND SHOWDOWNS
Cadres have no effect on Showdowns. In any manner. Use the rules as written.

RE: Heroes travelling together
New to the game but I thought it might be good for the showdown if once the showdown is started, all heroes that wish to be, are involved in the fight. It seems more inline with the theme of the story climax and the heroes all taking on the villain at the end of the movie.
