LNOE AI List
Let’s be honest here. Anytime in this document, when I say. “In the worst possible place.” I mean it. You know where the worst possible place will be. Or who the most vulnerable hero is.

You know.

The Zombie Artificial Intelligence. Z.A.I.
The logic of the Robot Zombie player.
- I am trying to get rid of all of my cards every turn.
- I am trying to be as much of a jerk as possible with placement of Zs and my general strategy.
- Always ask myself: What would I do if I were the zombie player?
- Be RUTHLESSLY HONEST. What do I really NOT want the zombies to do!!!

Zombie Spawning and movement.
Not much changes. You still make the check and then spread the zombies out within normal rules. But you pick spawning sites closest to the Heroes first.

Zombie Heroes
Zombie Heroes will always move towards the Heroes. They do not mill around or stand still. If two clusters of humans are equidistant to the zombie, s/he will pick the smaller group to attack.

Zombie Movement
- Zombies will move towards the Heroes every turn. If two groups of Heroes are equidistant, they will go to the smaller (or lone) hero group first.
- If moving through the center tile will get them closer faster, they will do so.
- The zombies, if they have a choice, will try not to cluster more than 3 to a space.
- Zombie Hunger nullifies the above zombie movement rule. Zombies, if they have a choice of Hero groups to move to will move to the smaller (lone) group.

Zombie Card play
- Many Zombie Event cards are now treated like Play Immediately cards.
- Pull the zombie’s hand of 4 cards. Lay them out and resolve them in the order they were pulled. Certain cards, like combat cards, you must set aside to be played during the combat step. But cards like “Loss of Faith” nullify cards right out of the Hero’s hand.

Most zombie cards can be resolved just as they are printed. Indeed, if a zombie card is not listed here, its effect is obvious and automatic. (To me at least. If it is not to you, post a question in this thread.)

Combat Cards
My logic: The human player will probably try to drain a Z.A.I. player of cards with weak attacks/characters before going on to his stronger characters. (You know this to be true.) A human zombie player would not be fooled, and would sometimes save a card to “mix it up a little”. Let’s simulate this interaction with a simple die roll.

The decision to play some of these cards will be resolved with a “Z.A.I. roll” (d6), where:
1-2: This attack, the zombie saves his combat card for some reason. (???)
3-6: The zombie uses the combat card(s).

Most of these cards are treated as “Play Immediately”
Cards marked with a * are saved for combat.

“MY God, they’ve Taken Over the…”:
Randomly choose the site of this event. If you roll “Zombie’s choice.” Roll a d6.
1-2 The building with the most humans in it.
3-4 The closest “pickup” building to the humans.
5-6 Roll for a new random building.

New Spawning Pit:
Randomly choose the site of this event. If you roll “Zombies choice.” Go through the list below and choose the first valid location.
- A “pick-up” building with a single human hero inside.
- A building with a single human hero inside.
- A pick-up building that allows the humans to draw ranged weapons
- A building with any amount of human Heros inside.
- Any pick-up building.
- Choose randomly.

Surprise attack
Go through the list below. Pick the first applicable choice.
- A lone human in a pick-up building.
- A lone human in a building.
- The smallest group of humans in a building. (Tie, randomly pick.)

* Resilient
- Z.A.I. roll when a firearm is used.
- If the hero’s fire a shotgun, the card is used immediately by the Z.A.I.

Shamble
- Always used during zombie movement.
- Look for the smallest group of humans, if a tie, randomly pick.
- Pick a zombie 4-6 squares away from the target and further or the same distance from any other humans. (Obvious Z stragglers.)
- If a Z is beside a Hero or 2 spaces away from a human it CANNOT be the target of this card UNLESS it is to move to the offending human. (No, running from the meat!)
- Resolve.

Bickering
- Played Immediately
- Pick the largest group of Human Heros. If a tie, choose randomly
- If all the humans are solo, possible but unlikely, then the card is played the instant two Heros are on the same space.
- This card can be cancelled before it is played by the ZAI.

Overconfidence
Play Immediately on:
- A wounded Hero or
- A Hero with a melee weapon or
- A lone Hero or
- A hero of your choice.

“This Could be Our Last Night on Earth”
Note: Zs may not attack Targets of this card this turn. Play immediately on:
- A male and female hero in the same space. (Your choice.)
- Two females in the same space. (It is an R rated horror movie.)
- Two males in the same space. (Except weird Father/son pairings. Ew!)
- If all characters are alone, then discard. (Whew!)

- Please post strange pairings in this thread. ^.^;

“No… It Can’t Be!”
- Play Immediately.
- Zombies sacrificed must be the furthest from the Heros. (Stragglers.)

Legions of the Dead
- Play Immediately. When placing the new zombies, follow the rules, however:
- Place new zombies in spaces with a single Human Hero and a Z if you can.
- Place new zombies in spaces with Heros and Zs if you can.
- Place zombies as close to the heroes as you can.

* Undead Hate the Living
- Play during combat if the human wins a combat with a SINGLE die higher than the zombies. Do NOT play this card if two dice are higher than the Zs top roll.

* Unnecessary Self Sacrifice.
- Play during Combat any time two Heros are in the same space.
- If there are only two Hero characters left, and they are on different map tiles, discard this card.

* Braaains!
- Play first time a Z rolls a 5 on his fight die to turn it into a 6
- Do NOT do this against a hero that wins ties.

* I feel Kinda Strange
-Next time hero is wounded. Make a Z.A.I. roll.

Locked Door
- Make a Z.A.I. roll each time a hero enters or exits a building.

Lights Out
- If any Heros are in a building, target that building NOW. Hero’s choice.
- First time Heros enter building, make Z.A.I roll.

Cornered
- Play Immediately.

“There’s No Time, Leave it!”
- Follow this list for preferences. Best choice to worst…
- A Scenario Search Item (Bwahahahah!!!)
- The Shotgun
- Chainsaw
- Heroic Resolve
- Faith (If the church is on the board.)
- The Revolver
- Ammo
- Meat Cleaver
- At Last…
- Keys
- Fire Extinguisher
- Cigar
- First Aid Kit
- Doc Brody, Country Physician (If Becky is an active Hero)
- Dynamite
- Gasoline
- Lighter
- Signal Flare
- Faith
- Random card and all copies of it.

* Unstoppable
- Z.A.I. roll each time.
- If the target is a Zombie Hero, ALWAYS use the card!

“I’ve Got to Get to The…”
Roll randomly for building, if “Zombie choice”, pick any building on opposite side of board from character. Or just roll again if in the middle tile.
Follow this list.
- Sheriff if present.
- Nurse if present.
- Drifter if present.
- Random adult
- Random youth

* Scratch and Claw
- Use only if at least 3 Zs on square attacking the Hero.
- Z.A.I. roll as well.

Relentless Advance
- Chose any zombie 4 spaces away from a lone hero.
- Chose any zombie 4 or more spaces away from any hero.
- Choose any Zombie 5 or more spaces away.

“I don’t Trust ‘Em”
- If there is a Strange character, choose him/her.
- 2nd ability if there is not Strange character.

Trip
- Z.A.I. roll anytime a character rolls a 5 or 6 for movement.

Loss of Faith (Hmmm…. I had to think about this one.)
- If a character is under the effects of a Faith card, they lose it.
- If the Heros have a Faith Card in their hand, they lose it.
- If the Heros use a weapon make a Z.A.I. roll.

“This Can’t be Happening!”
- Play on a lone Hero furthest from all other Human Heros.
- Discard otherwise.

Teen Angst
- Play on random youth.
- No youth, discard.

“My God, He’s a Zombie!”
- 2nd ability.

- Rotten Bodies.
Play Immediately
- Choose zombies furthest from the Heros UNLESS they are in a Key Building. (Like a building with a spawning pit in the scenario “Burn ‘em out.”)

Final Notes

When in doubt, ask yourself: “What do I NOT want to happen?” and “Who do I NOT want to die.”
Then you know the answer.
