I saw a pic somewhere that showed someone using a model truck instead of the flat card one. I would like to do this and was wondering if anyone knew which scale would be correct. I'm thinking 1:43 but I'm not sure.

Yeah, I'll bet it is 1/43, as they seem to go pretty well with other 28mm miniatures.

If you pull up one of the truck images at bgg, one of the posts has an example of a 1/48 then a 1/50 scale model car. Both look great, but the 1/48 was slightly too large, so I'd bet 1/43 would be too. 1/50 looked dead on.

Here's the photo with the 1/48 vs. 1/50 comparison. The 1/50 scale looks closer.

The GTO (left) is 1/50 and the F-150 (right) is 1/43. The Mustang in the back, is 1/36 scale.

I keep reading around that 28mm is actually equivalent to 1/64 scale. Just for the sake of my wallet, I'm buying a 1/64 scale 1955 Ford F-100 from eBay for $5. The 1/50 scale trucks are all around $20 + tax/shipping, or $30 + tax at my local hobby train shop.

Checked out my hobby train shop today, second time I've visited them since picking up model grass. Tons of great cars in there, whole selection of 1950's era Ford F-100 pickups, all of which 1/50 scale, but cost $30. Couldn't bring myself to buy such a perfect piece and then weather it by painting it.

In talking to the owners, I found that the 1/64 scale I was looking for is called "S-gauge" in their language. So if any of you guys decide to check out a train hobby shop, call and ask to see if they've got S-gauge before using precious gasoline and driving out. Of course, that is if you're looking for 1/64 scale.

Ended up bidding on an ebay item.

Looking at it in this picture the Truck is a little big but as a game component it works fine and sits nicely in the centre square.

btw....it used to have a fake wooden surround the bed of the truck but the cats kept knocking the truck of the shelf where it was kept, so they didn't last long but hey thematically maybe the Z's ripped it off!!

I won this same truck for 1 cent! (+$6 shipping).
It's by Maisto and the scale on the bottom of the truck says 1/36.
I also won a 1950 GMC from Yat Ming Road Signature Collection. ($3-4 and $3-4 in shipping). It's scale says 1:43. It's just slightly bigger than the Maisto but still usable.

I fear 1/50 scale may be too large. Please let me know.

Actually the larger denominator indicates a smaller scale. So your 1/36 scale truck should actually be bigger than your 1/43. Think of it this way, 1/1 is its true size, so 1/2 would be half of its true size, 1/4 would be a quarter of its true size, 1/36 would be a 36th its true size and so on (you'd have to set 36 of these side by side in any which way to create its true dimensions). Probably a better way of explaining it, but that's my best shot.

I observed this in person while at my local train shop. I compared 4 F-100 models, a 1/84 (HO gauge), 1/50, 1/43, and 1/36.

It's 1/64 scale, which I've read is equivalent to 28-29mm figurines. I'm thinking it might be a bit small, but it's in my price range. Besides, smaller = more space on the board and in the box.
