Newbie Fight Question

I'm a bit confused regarding the zombie's turn "fight" phase.

Can heroes use their weapons during this phase?
ie "Baseball Bat" or "Shovel"?

or is it only a "bare knuckle" defense for the heroes when zombies attack?

I would imagine that ranged weapons are hero turn "ranged attack" phase only

Heroes can use their melee weapons in any melee combat, whether on the zombie's turn, or the hero's turn. You are correct that ranged weapons are only used during the "ranged attack" phase of the hero turn only.

Any time there's a fight between a zed and a hero, they can use their Combat bonus. It doesn't matter if it's the Zombie turn or the Hero turn. Remember, items are played down and revealed as soon as they're drawn (and never held in hand). They stay in play attached to that hero until something removes them (such as replacing it with a better item once over the item limit or it breaking).

Additionally, many can be used more than once even in one fight, until they break. Check out the Welding Torch or the Baseball Bat
