OD's New Project.

OD's New Project.
It all started innocently enough I had got some new shelving & was
transferring my 54 plastic shoe boxes of painted GW LoTR figs for the
LoTR Table Top Game from a closet to the shelves. I used to have
tons of scenery to go with the Game but it was such a hassle to set
up that when I moved 6 years ago I sold it off.So the figs have set
in that closet since then.

A couple of years ago I purchased FFG BattleLore & Expansions &
although I didn't care for the Terrinoth Game World I liked the Game .
It was to be my next painting project BUT when I spray painted the
base coat it went terrible wrong (bad can/too cold/too humid/to close/
to far?)the paint clotted & was impossible to remove.I tried but nothing
worked I did try painting a few figs.but the results were horrible.I
dumped the figs in a bin & shelved the Game.

So to point-getting the LoTR figs back into the light I thought why not
adapt them to Battle Lore2 & bring back a use for the figs & the Game.
Actually it's been fairly easy to convert I just matched up my LoTR
Factions to the BattleLore2 Faction Profiles as Men/Elves/Dwarves
Forces could be the Daqan & Orcs could be the Uthuk. I just modified
a few of the Profiles Abilities to match the LoTR Factions.Like the
Yeoman Archer Double Shot Ability is reserved for Elves & most Evil
men don't get any of the Citadel Guard Abilities .

Anyway it took to about 2 weeks to get it all worked out for a Game
I call Border Clashes. I'm playing my first test Game & will post the
results.

RE: OD's New Project.
Sounds like fun. Always nice to repurpose old stuff. I haven't ever gotten a chance to play Battle Lore. It's almost always been sufficiently rare and skirmish games aren't my forte, so I've managed to play hopscotch on its releases and editions over the years. I've heard it's great though.

RE: OD's New Project.
The original BL was set in a Fantasy 100 Year War period .It was rather fiddley & the figs were so-so,they made the Dwarves
(which were suppose to be Scottish troops) look like clowns (I have never forgiven Days of Wonder).

Days of Wonder could never come through with different Factions & the few small pack expansions were just different troop types
that were in the bases game(they had Dwarves riding Cows!!!!!(Absolutely no respect for Dwarf culture) plus they had
underprice the base game & when it sold out they could never afford do another edition.

Days of Wonder sold the Game to Fantasy Flight Games who reissued it as BL2 with a much more streamlined Game set
in their Terrinoth Game World as BL2. It really is a Great Game in the Command & Colors style.FFG dumped it in
favor of a Table Top Game with the same theme which sank without a trace.
