OD's SoB Game Blog
Finally all my Prep is done so I can play the Game. So here it goes:

I've started A Fist Full of Dark Stone & I must say you can read the Rule Book
over & over but it takes actually doing the Game to work it all out.

My Posse has moved into the 2nd Tile of the Game & has been ambushed
by 5 Stranglers. The poor Rancher too 21 hits & I thought she was KO but
then I remembered the Defensive Stat & she got away with only 9 hits.

So it ain't brain surgery but it's a lot of things to keep track. The Posse is
now ready to fight back but I needed to check on the Dynamite Rules, I
guess a token just does d-6 Damage.

RE: OD's SoB Game Blog
The Game is about finished the 2nd clue was found on the 4th Tile after 7 turns.
Of course now the posse has to fight 1 Night Terror,3 Stranglers,& 5 Hungry dead.

I messed around about 4 hours on this but more likely 2 of those were taking breaks
or checking the Rule Book. Oddly enough I never got a corridor tile but had a chance
to try out most of the Game Options.

The 5 stranglers held on for 3 Turns & beat up on the Ranger so she only has
4 Health left & used up her grit & the Revive Token to keep her going. So she might
not make it through the final fight.

I did find the Fan created $ & XP cards very useful over having to track them on paper.

In the end the Strangles KO Deliah right from the Get Go & Luis held out to finish off the
Hungary Dead but the Stranglers got him as well. The ensnare Ability is a killer & those
things could Roll 6's.

I'm going ahead & play through the Town Board to see how it works as I'll keep these
2 Heroes for future Campaigns. I'll try to finish up a Game Report by tomorrow.

Well the Town Board screwed me over as well but not too badly.
I enjoyed the Game I had to do a lot of Rule Checking (It would have been helpful
if the Rule Book was Indexed) but that was expected in a first Game.

I only made a few mistakes & I caught them right away so I could correct them
without disrupting the Game.

I need to play a bit more before hitting Otherworld Missions & using some of the
Advanced Rules. Previously on this Threat I outlined a back Story For A few Dark Stone More
with the Marshal & Indian Scout so I'm keeping my Card decks out so set up will be
quicker.

RE: OD's SoB Game Blog
AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! I just realized I made a big mistake. I used the
1 revival Token to save the Rancher from the 1st Strangler attack KO
but I didn't restore her to full Health & recover 1 grit. So she got into
the Final battle only having 4 Health.

It might have made a difference as she could have survived longer &
maybe took some slashers down easing the pressure on the Bandito.
Then again with the Night Terror around it probably would have made
a difference to the Game outcome but it would have been closer.

There is just so much to keep track of you need to play several Games to
get it all down.

RE: OD's SoB Game Blog
When it Raines...in writing up my Game Report I realized the
Final Battle was just a Hot Mess, I screwed up the Turn Sequence.
That & the Revive Screw up made me decide to just set up & replay
the entire Turn as the Heroes were just too compromised.

This time the Rancher had her correct Health & the Heroes were positioned
correctly on the Board Tile. This time the Heroes managed to kill off all
the Monsters thanks to the last of the Dynamite & a couple of Critical Hits
at the right time.

Then I had to refigure the XP, Loot + the Dark Stone that winning the Mission
gave the Heroes.

I just used the original rolls for Travel & the Town encounters. I did have to
Switch the bandito from the Dr.Office to the frontier Outpost Bank. When
he lost he picked a broken collarbone from being KO'd. So he had no
reason to visit the Doctor now that he had no injury.

I just posted up my Game Report.

OD

PS: I just finished another Mission & realized I also screwed up on awarding
XP's for Large Monsters so I need to refigure for this Mission. Game Report Updated

PSS: Now I discovered I left out the rolls for DS Corruption as well ,Deliah had 2 hits
but her WP overcame them. Oliveras had 1 hit & even though he has 5WP he failed
the save roll & got 1 Corruption so another update.

RE: OD's SoB Game Blog
Just finished a Game Report on For a Few Dark Stone More.
I managed to get through the Mine without having to battle until
the Final Battle (of course this kept XP for the Heroes down).

The Marshal Hero is based on Milton Duffield an actual US Marshal
stationed to Arizona at the time. A real SoB for SoB.

So far in my 2 Games the Heroes have mostly rolled well & the
Monsters so-so. I wish I could get Eldritch Horror to work that way.

The new Game Report: Making Zeb Buller Whole" has been posted up.

RE: OD's SoB Game Blog
I'm playing out my 3rd Game (retirement can be so cool-of course I have a new batch
of leaves to handle after yesterdays wind). This time it's the Saloon Gal & the
Gunslinger.

With each Game everything goes smoother but it's still a lot to keep track of,
I just did a whole turn Exploring a Passage & then realized that's against the Rules.

I remembered the Game had something about bounties & realized I never checked on them.
Then I spent 20 minutes trying to find a section on bounties. Not in the Rule Book nor the
Adventure books. I checked over at BGG in the SoB Rules Section to see if they had anything
mentioned about Bounties & found out they were on The Frontier Outpost Board.

RE: OD's SoB Game Blog
Joy, I got a weather break it's popping up to the 70's today so
I rushed my SoB figs back down to the basement Tool Room &
giving them their protective varnish spray coat as tomorrow it's
back to November again.

I just finished the Gloss & later I'll hit them with Matt & they
will be fully finished.

PS- There is REALLY so much to keep track of. I just realized when I was
completing the 3rd Game that Upgrades need to be done when Heroes Level Up.
In Fist full of Dark Stone Game the Bandito went up to Level 2 so I adjusted his XP
& gave him his bonuses.

RE: OD's SoB Game Blog
Just Posted up my 3rd Game Report it's on the Search Mission
with 3 Clues it took 29 turns & the Darkness got up to Level 12.

The Combat was mostly avoided until the last couple of Turns &
then Zap ! It did give the Heroes a lot of XP to Level UP.
This was the only Game so far I had to remove older Mine Tiles to
keep it on my Game Table.

The next Game will be with The Preacher & Lawman to finish up
using all my Heroes. I'll start tomorrow to give the Miniatures
plenty of time to dry from yesterdays Varnish coats.

After than I have the Back Story done for the Exploration Mission which
will feature The Marshal & the Female Rancher titled "The Duffield Report"
it's rather long as it includes excerpts from Blackstone History of Arizona.

RE: OD's SoB Game Blog
Have started my 4th Game & have somewhat reverted to my Eldritch Horror
dice rolling form. Can't stop the Darkness & have 2 Growing Dread Cards already
+ 2 Darkness "Remains in Play".

I got my first Clue but it comes with a Medium + Low Threat. The Preacher is great
against Undead Types so what do I get all Daemonic figs. So we'll see where this
Goes.

Well I have new respect for The Preacher & his Judgment Sermon -it's dynamite
& the Lawman's Frontier Justice just ripped through those Monsters without too
much damage. A stick of regular Dynamite helped as well . Plus the Darkness
has let up some but I still have 3 Growing Dread Cards out.

Another cliffhanger Darkness at 13 & the 2nd clue hit the end Battle & it
was just 1 Night Terror & 2 Slashers but in the 7 Turns it took to resolve 1 more Night
Terror Came in plus 1 Corpse Pile & 6 Hungry Dead. I thought I was a gonner but
I had a Revive Token to bring back the Preacher & made it through. The Seal the Void
is rugged failing a Darkness Roll during the Final Battle also add a Threat Card & you
still have to get 5 sanity hits on the Portal ( at +5).

I did manage to win thanks to the Preachers Smite.

RE: OD's SoB Game Blog
Crapola!. This sucks I had just finished a 26 Turn Game Report
& then accidently deleted the whole thing. Looks like I'll need to start again
Tomorrow. It basically been that kind of day.
