Painted Dr. Yamato from Hero Pack 2
Hi all it's taken me a while to get around to using and painting Dr. Yamato but he's a great character to use in the game as he has 1/3 of a chance of discarding a Zombie card once per Turn.
Plus his background is pretty cool. I'm not going to spoil it but it's hinted at that he might know a bit about the Zombie outbreak. I had a great time painting him and I used Games Workshops contrast paint on the trousers and lab coat. I still used other paints in conjunction with the contrasts such as extra washing and some layers to highlight. Anyways, thanks for looking. Comments always welcome. Happy gaming everyone |

Nice Work, GW makes excellent paints but their paint pots suck since they
stopped using those 8 sided ones. I'm mostly using Reaper & WarPaints. their cheaper & don't dry out. OD Sighing like the night wind and sobbing like the rain,— Wailing for the lost one that comes not again: |

I'm sure you remember the old screw top glass ones. I still have one that I could still paint with. It's got to be 30 years old. If they could design paints back then to not get dried out, what's the problem now? Unless they want the paint to dry out |

WOW! That looks awesome! I mean even the details on the ID Badge... Daaayyymn.
Wait... they dont make paints in the glass flatsided bottles anymore? Those were brilliant. I havent painted a mini in probably 12 years back when I played D&D regularly. |

RE: Painted Dr. Yamato from Hero Pack 2
Well Sam efforts inspired me to go down to my paint room(it's been about 2 years).
I'm adding a new Unit of Skeletons to my Dawn of the Hyborian Age Campaign. The Campaign uses 10mm WarMaster strands which I painted years ago,so nothing too hard just 3 small fig.strands.I have been planning a big painting project to paint up GW Battle of the 5 Armies Game figs (also 10mm) so I thought it would be good practice to recover what painting skills I had. Alas the years have not been kind so some of my paints (especially the ones whose colors I need). The few GW paints have dried to dust, which I expected but my WarPaints & Reaper Paints also have taken a few fits.My Flesh paints are like a wad of chewed bubbble gum as well as WHITE (try doing skeletons without white).I did have a useable pot of bone so I at least was able to give the Skellies a base coat. Sometimes a bit of water can bring gummed up paints back but it doesn't seem to be working on mine.So looks I need to restock. RE: Painted Dr. Yamato from Hero Pack 2
So DAMN CLOSE- inspite of some of my paint pots showing the results of a
couple of years inactivity I finished up my Skeleton Unit. It looks good so I guess I didn't lose any painting skills during my period of inactivity. I glued the strands to the base & after the glue set went to give them a quick Gloss Varnish coat.I took the spray can shook it up & had my finger on the trigger & realized the spray can I had wasn't Gloss Varnish it was Black Primer, so I came within a nanosecond of ruining my paint job!Needlesss to say I've put the Matt Varnish can front & center so I don't make that mistake when I put on the final coat. My first love for models were skeletons. I was inspired as a kid by Ray Harryhausen's skeletons in Jason and the Argonauts That what a near miss with the black spray |
