Painted Zombies by Heresy Miniatures (Zombie sets 3 + 4)
Hi I've been at my painting desk again and I'd been painting Townsfolk and I fancied a change so I ordered these Zombies. I also needed an extra Bloated Body Grave Weapon Zombie and one of these Zombies fiitted the bill. Hope you enjoy checking them out. I've gone for an overall darker feel for the Zombies, going for realism over my usual brighter cleaner style. I'd like to know what you guys think.
These miniatures were bought from here http://heresyminiatures.com/shop/index.p...page=index To see more of my painted miniatures plus articles all about the hobby have a look here http://www.thezombiegame.com/forums/Foru...with-Death |

Love the new way you took with the more darker feel to it. This goes extremely well for zombies. The blood on the dress of the little girl is just spot on!
Care to enlighten your minions on how you achieved it? Used a black primer? I am the reason God stopped watching. |

Yes I used a black primer but then again I nearly always do unless I'm painting a mini that's going to be mostly painted in bright colours. I've just been scanning the net for picturs of walking dead Zombies and they're quite different than Romereo's grey/blue dead flesh Zombies. So with this inspiration I went for gritty and dirty Zombies. Black undercoat. Part 1 Flesh Basecoat: Bugmans Glow (use any dark flesh tone you have) Shading: Druchii Violet wash and Seraphim Sepia wash 50/50 mix (use a purple and sepia wash) 1st highlight: Bugmans Glow (drybrushed) 2nd highlight: Cadian Fleshtone (drybrushed) (use a lighter flesh tone) 2nd Shading: Druchii Violet wash in random patches Part 2 Bone Basecoat: Screaming Skull (any light cream tone) Shading: Agrax Earthshade wash (any dark brown wash) Part 3 Gore Basecoat: Mephiston Red (any darkish red) Shading: Brown ink (any very dark brown wash or mix of watered down dark brown paint) 1st Highlight: Mephiston Red (any darkish red) around the edges and centre of wounds. 2nd highlight/spot colour: Evil Sunz Red (light red) use sparingly! Samurai Tip: [after the model is finished and spray varnished] Paint a little Gloss Varnish on the wounds. Part 4 rotten souless eyes Basecoat: Praxeti White (any white) Shading: Carroburg Crimson wash (any red wash) [Go straight to the next stage] Samurai Tip: Use a fine damp paint brush and lift the wash out of the centre of the eye ball. Hope this helps, any other questions; fire away! |

Really nice job, Trev. Definitely a different style than I'm used to seeing from you but they have a very realistic look.
You have absolutely perfected the zombie's wounds - the different shades of red with the black in the middle and edges and the glossiness all combine to make them look like a photograph of a real wound! “By the time I realized the danger, it was scratching at my front door.” ― Max Brooks, World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War |

Damn fine work. I'm jealous.. I'm still trying to get a nice dark shading like you do... I don't think I have the proper color assotment to pull it off yet...
I'm not dead. I'm electroencephalographically challenged... |
