Painted base game heroes
Before I started work on my 3D board, I took the time to paint the 8 heroes from the base game. I plan to add some unique zombies to the mix from outside sources so I haven't taken time to paint the zombies yet.
I'll post some "in progress" pics of the 3D board. For now, my painted heroes are below. The paint on some of the faces could be thinned down a bit more. In the places that I saw paint buildup after I took these photos, I've touched up the areas. Strangely, you don't really see the buildup much in person. My wife's camera just happens to have a pretty powerful lens so it seems to bring out the imperfections better. Well, enjoy! Nice work. And I also fall under the stress of macro photos! I hate how they bring up my little mishaps.

RE: Painted base game heroes
Good stuff! I particularly like the realistic weathered look you've got on the clothing and leather items.

Excellent stuff. I really like these. I wish my sheriff looked half as good as yours.

RE: Painted base game heroes
Very nice job. I know what you mean about the super-magnified photography showing little problems that the naked eye can't even see. It depresses me when that happens. I really like the detail you put on the faces - eyes, eyebrows, lipstick, etc. You must have some very thin brushes and a very steady hand!

+1 Rep from me. You sir can paint (just try thinning it a little next time and your models will look even better)

RE: Painted base game heroes
Thanks, everyone. I appreciate the kind words. As I mentioned in my original post, and was also noted by Trev, I'll definitely have to thin my paint a bit when working on the faces to avoid paint buildup and loss of detail. I'll definitely do this when I work on the GH and Hero Pack 1 heroes as well as the zombies.
I'm looking forward to showing what I've done so far on the 3D board project. The piece I'm close to finishing first is The Barn. More to come... |

Great job on all of these. I bet they look really cool when you are playing with them. Cartwright is my favorite; he came out really nice. Also, Kudos for following the references from the card pics, etc so well in your paint schemes. They match the other game bits nicely.

Wow! Those are amazing! How in the world did you make them so detailed? Even the clothing looks textured and realistic! That is just awesome!
