Question
How do you guys rate the learning curve on this great looking FFP game?
I mean like LNOE is kinda like "hey ho lets go!" and the same goes from IFOS.
COPE is a little different and did take another aproach.
And then there is ATOE wich, to me, is the most complicated to start playing.

So masters of this board. Enlighten me please because it is starting to get on my nerves that I have all the FFP games but one Zombie12 Zombie12

I am the reason God stopped watching.

RE: Question
FanG, to me, is almost exactly like AToE in the way everything plays.
Its a bit complicated but like AToE after you've played a game or two,
it's a breeze. If you have played AToE, FanG isn't all that more complicated
except for the amount of decks being used. As far as how awesome it
is, it has been our game groups #1 pick every friday, since November
when I got it. It you keep an eye out on E-bay, I picked the game up
for $50 plus $12 shipping, and I see it quit frequently at that price.
All in all, I recommend you get this game, its 100% worth it!

RE: Question
The main problem I personally have with ATOE is that the monsters just don't do it for me. I'm not a big fan of victorian types either so this new game just might lure me into it Watchmen02

RE: Question
I found that it was pretty easy to pick up once we got going with it. The game comes packed with a Quick Play ruleset, just four pages long or so, that covers the basic core rules to the game: Turn structure, how adventuring works, fights, etc. It leaves the more complicated elements like the Villains and Temples out. This was an excellent tool for learning the structure of the game. We had the rules pretty well down by the second or third round using this.
The first time that we: a) Used Villains and Temples, b) played with Teams, and c) Played Co-op, we did need to refer to the rules a bit because each of those either has added rules or slightly different rules than the core.

Personally, I feel like this is the most fleshed out of the FFP games. Tons of fun, I highly recommend it!

RE: Question
Hi Emp.

I think the learning curve is low. Meaning it is easy to play.

The first time i played, there was 6 of us in a co-op game. It was fun, but to many people learning it at once. Made the game play s l o w.

The second time i played, it was 4 of us in a competitive game. It was a much more enjoyable game (cause funner is not a word) The excitment was more intense, lots of choices and goals.

If you are into that genre, i would highly recommend it. I personally do not own the game. I would rather kill zombies, chop off heads, build power plants/gate houses or sphinxs.

Hunt for treasure ? escape from Nazi's ? ....escape a collapsing temple? who needs to do that ? Catti-Brea does not have time for the Mob....there is a Demon afoot.

RE: Question
Just to add my little bit in, Emp.

I agree with what people are saying and if you know how to play ATOE then you know how to play this.

Also, I really like F&G as each round plays really fast compared to some games and the theme works soooo well. When I first heard about the game I doubted FFP would pull it off but I was really wrong.

Another great selling point for me is, I feel, that this game will appeal to non-gamers more than some of the other FFP games because of the theme etc. I recommended the game to Vike earlier on this basis.

Emp, just go out and get the game! You won't regret it!

RE: Question
The only down side to the game (witch isn't for me, but other non
gamer's I introduced during Christmas (family)), was that it took
to long (about 3 hours) for a 15 fortune competitive game. Really
it might have been shorter if I didn't have to explain everything.
Our game groups go for long as well but there is always a good 6
people or so and we shoot the shit while playing (but we like how
lengthy, and amazingly fun it can be).

RE: Question
A tad late but the Game is well worth getting (even with it's price). It's faster paced than AToE & it's 1930's themed pulp action/adventure.
The rules are smooth but the first play or so will require a lot of checking because there are a lot of actions to handle.

RE: Question
Well it's time to come clean with you guys Watchmen02
When I asked this question I just ordered the game as a newyears pressie for my bro KidDarqo and his wife Joke here on the board. I can honestly say that they both nearly shat themselves whe. They opened up the box and saw what was in it.

Just forvthe record, I did not buy the game alone, we chipped in with some more friends.
