Search for the Vril

[Old Dwarf]

This is my 6th SoB Game It will be Solo to learn the Rules & using
the 4th. Mission in the City of the Ancients Adventure Book as I
wanted to try out an Otherworld Game

I was struck however by how much The Ancient City of the Targa Plateau
resembled certain aspects of Nazi pseudo prehistory & how Dark Stone
took the role of Vril.

Thus for this Game I upped the timeline to the mid-1930's & made
the Lawman (Klaus) & the Female Indian Scout (Marina) into 2 Nazi Agents.
Marina Lee was a real Nazi Spy. Everything else is regular SoB. The
Ahnenerbe , Reichsgeschäftsführer Sievers, & of course
SS Reichsführer Himmler are alas also real.

Dramatis Personas:
Klaus Ritter- Ahnenerber Agent (Lawman)-has Frontier Justice, Shackles Whisky Token in Side Bag
in addition to Starting Gear.

Marina Lee - SS spy ( Indian Scout)-has Heightened Senses,Ribbon & Bandages Token in Side Bag in
addition to Starting Gear.

"Thank you for seeing me, Reichsgeschäftsführer Sievers, please just call me Karl"

Very well Karl, your letter was most intriguing but I'll be frank
your claim of finding the Aryan homeland beneath the earth is
rather extreme. I know that many in our agency including SS
Reichsführer Himmler believe our ancient ancestors were an otherworldly
super race that colonized the interior of the hollow Earth & emerged
to rule the surface. Alas we have become diminished over the eons & lost
the technology of these forefathers, thus we seek to restore our Aryan
purity. The most accepted theory is that there is an entrance in the
Arctic leading to this lost Aryan homeland but you say it's in the S.W.
United States!

I'm familiar on your work at The Externsteine which is why I granted you
this interview, but understand I'll need to see much more proof on this claim
of yours.

"Understood Reichsgeschäftsführer understood. First here is a Journal I came
across when settling up my cousins estate. It belong to his father Hans Muller,
a soldier & adventure. He was a Captain in the Franco-Prussian War &
afterwards traveled extensively throughout the United States & Mexico. This
is the Journal he kept of those travels.

I'll call your attention to the entries dated March 12th-15th, 1880 he's in a remote
area of Northern Arizona & he describes hearing rumors about an ancient city of ice
located in the bowls of an abandoned Mine. He hired an Indian Guide & ventured into
this Mine, he describes being set upon by hordes of large spiders which they drove off &
then finding this glowing portal which he passed through into the ruins of a vast ancient
city preserved in the ice. He found strange machines & devices some of which appeared
to be still working. Then it appears his guide became frightened so he made some sketches
& then left.

Look at those sketches , see the scale of those structures ,there huge I'm convinced this is
the Aryan Homeland City."

Well Karl yes there impressive but it's just the writings of one man there's no proof he just
didn't just make the whole thing up. Why didn't he share this find with others?

"I also wondered about that but found out he traveled on to Mexico & contracted cholera
& died within 6 weeks of his discovering the ancient city, his belongings were shipped
back to Germany & were just stored away. I believe I was the first person to read his
journal since he died. As to his making it up I can only say he was a Prussian Officer of
the Old school. He was just too honorable to records falsehoods & to be truthful he
utterly lacked the imagination to make such a tale. Then there's this object"

It's just a dark purple shard ,why is this special?

Mein Gott! , it's warm! it's metallic yet it's not, it seems to pulse with energy.
What is it? where did you get it?

"It was in the same package as the sketches, a notation says picked up in ancient city.
I've had it analized ,it's nothing like anything else on Earth, unknown but I'm told
it has energy rating that if harnest could run a locomotive even as small as it is.

It has to be Vril , the lost energy of the Aryan Forefathers."

Doktor Muller I am stunned, this must go straight to SS Reichsführer Himmler ,
I will make arrangements for you to stay in Berlin while we further investigate
this discovery.

"Reichsgeschäftsführer, there is a problem, the Americans are building a huge dam
on the Colorado River it will be completed within a matter of months & the area
around this Mine will be submerged under the lake it will create, time is short."

Doktor I will contact my superior today if your shard is what it seems to be we will
act with all speed to find this Mine.

Sievers, congratulations it looks like this Doktor Muller of yours has
indeed found the city of our Forefathers & the source of Vril. We
must indeed act before the Americans complete their dam project.
Any suggestions on how to undertake this Mission.

"Reichsführer we can't just try sending a Team of Archologists ,
the Americans would never allow it & it would just make them
suspicious as to what we were looking for. We can't risk them
obtaining Virl

I suggest we send in only a couple of agents undercover as tourist.
I have just the man Klaus Ritter, speaks perfect American English,
he spent most of his childhood in New Mexico before his father returned
the family to the Vaterland to join the army in the Great War. He still
has friends in that region I'm just looking for someone to acompy him ."

Sieveres I have a solution Marina Lee ,we've used her talents as a
spy on several occasions. She also speaks English & is a charmer,
besides being a crack shot. she could accompy Ritter as his wife.
A couple would not cause suspicion .I'll leave the details to you.

"Klaus, Marina here are the documents needed to get into the United States.
You are a recently married couple spending your honeymoon touring the
American South West.

Your luggage contains a map with the location of the Mine you are to
search hidden in the lining. Your Mission is to find this ancient city,
explore it & if possible find other entrances to it. Your cigarette lighters
are cameras which you will use to document the City. You also will
collect any dark purple shards & other artifacts that you can bring out.

We have arranged a safe house where anything you bring out can be
stored for later shipment to the Reich. Questions?....No well then
best of luck."

N.W. Arizona, January 3rd,1936

Pull over, Klaus this looks like the Mine entrance we're looking for

"Ja ,this has to be it, lets check out the gear & get going. I hope we can find
this Ancient City as easily as you charmed our way through that check
point this morning." Hey are you really bringing that hatchet thing? "

Ha, it was rather easy, wasn't it. Americans are so naive . The hatchet, well
as tourist I thought we should have a souvenir ,besides it got that soldiers
attention to the point he didn't check for anything else.

Well I'm ready, here's the lantern.

(1)Marina enters the Mine & feels a sense of Darkness pooling far away for now.
She continues on to just before the next junction.

Klaus follows her & moves past Marina to stand at the entrance to the next Mine
junction. Holding the lantern high he gasps as the Rail Tunnel has a glowing
section on it's back wall, it's the Portal he's been told to look for, can it be this easy?

His thoughts are answered as he spies 6 huge Spiders lurking before the Portal.

(2)The Darkness Marina felt now begins to move up from the Mines depth.
A Suffocating Mists fills the Mine entrance. Klaus suffers to wounds & Marina
3 as they struggle to breath.

The Spiders scamper forward & 2 Attack Klaus & 1 Marina. Both take 2
more wounds.

Marina critical shooting however takes down all the Spiders & clears the room.

Klaus moves into the rail Tunnel toward the glowing portal.

Marina however is still in the Mine Entrance & takes another wound from the
Mists. She uses her bandages heal 5 of her wounds.

(3) The Darkness uncertain with the death of it's minions holds.

Marina stumbles forward but finding grit pushes on to the Portal's
Entrance.

Klaus moves up to stand beside her.

(4)The Darkness still holds but weakened Mine wall from the unstable
Portal gives way but the Falling Rubble is avoided by both Klaus & Marina.

Both Klaus & Marina step through the Portal into*

* This was the last Game I played before leaving for
Florida & this was as far as the Game report got. When
I get back home in a few weeks I'll check my notes
& finish up.
