I've thought about picking this one up, but is seems like such an odd combination western and cthulhu is what is seems like. Is this game worth it?

Be honest.

I love it (of course I'm a Mine Cart KS backer, so I
can't afford not to Watchmen02

The Theme really isn't so much Cthulhu beyond a couple of
the miniatures and it does work well (I'm a Theme Junkie).
You have the ability to customize your encounters via
your cards.

You do have to assemble the figures which can be a pain
and there are a lot of them.

It's also damn expensive especially as there are a lot of
expansion if your the must get it all type . But the amount
of goodies you get is worth it.

The rules are straightforward but like other FFP Games there
are a lot of them so figure on investing some time in the Rule
Book.

to be honest i completely lost any interest in SoB. as a MC backer from Europe I`m waiting since 2014...seeing how this was handled from the start..I should have known...

sorry for small contribution here as well. I`m pissed at FFP in general..
I still love their games, but...eh

I never bought it, but some friends did and I'm quite underwhelmed. It's not very fun to me. Part of it is that it focuses too much on minis and not enough on game.

There are much better "dungeon explore" games out there, even with campaign mode. Mice & Mystics or even that-Star-Wars-one.

This mirrors my personal opinion too. That it has become the sole benefactor of all of Flying Frogs focus, to the detriment of every other game in their catalogue is a tragedy. When was the last boxed release of anything outside SoB?

On the other hand, it's my personal favorite of all the FFP games. So... maybe you should see if you can play somewhere before you look into buying it?
