Spray of the Dead
Greetings you rotting lot.

I have just been happly spraying my hoard of Undead 28mm figures, which I bought from Cold War Miniatures (Excellent figs). I have around 80 and almost all diffrent. They are going to look great, and will be used for a number of my Zombie Games.

I don't like painting plastic miniatures very much, because i find the paint flicks off. But the Heros in "Last Night on Earth" Are pretty good, but made of a rubbery plastic. Too Chewy for your average zombie.

So what I would like to ask from those who have painted the Plastic Miniatures. Do you have any suggestion on how to prime the minis before applying the paint?

Many Thanks
Dead Steve

RE: Spray of the Dead
I just used the good old skull white primer spraycan from Citadel.
Got any pics of your undead army?

Only problem with my LNOE mini's is that I varnished them with citadel paint to protect them. But now each time I get them out of the box they all stick together.
Each piece that connected with another piece sticks right there. Wich sucks because when you take them apart it chips.
Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do with that?

I am the reason God stopped watching.

RE: Spray of the Dead
I use spray black primer & then touch up problem areas
with a little Chaos Black/water mix.

I don't know what gives with GW spray varnish? but i switched
to Kraylon for both matte & gloss,it doesn't leave a white
residue & dries quickly.(plus its A LOT CHEAPER:P )

RE: Spray of the Dead
I took a tip from a fellow wargamer

Wash the minis in washing up liquid. Dry, Then wash with a watered down PVA glue. Once dry undercoat with primer (Black or White) Then paint and the paint should stick. As for Varnish, never use GW. Use a good Artist Matt Varnish.

To start i washed them with sunlight and a tooth brush then dried them.
let them stand for 24 hours.
Primed them with grey primer set for 24 hours.
painted with a water based acrylic from wal-mart $1.46 a 2oz bottle.
Then clear coated them with a matte finish from the same acrylic line I used from wal-mart folk art I think the paint is called.
I know what you mean by tacky though after I primed my figs they were tacky as hell. The paint and clear coat(matte finish)
Took care of that problem though and they are good to go.
The key to your finish is thin coats.do one let it dry do not try to put to much on.
There are way more expensive paints on the market ie gw and citadel but trust me these acrylics(painter sets artist pains, folk art...etc) do a fantastic job for a mere fraction of the price.
Good luck I hope this helps ya out.
