Temple Collapse
The rules state that when a Temple collapses, you are to remove all the Fortune from the Temple and remove the Temple figure from the board, but they are unclear as to what happens to the artifact card that was linked to the Temple on the board. Are they discarded as well and then replenished during the End Phase, or does something else happen?

The artifact is considered to be the temple (or the temple figure) itself. So, when it collapses you lose the artifact and only get to keep the accumulated fortune that you picked up while doing dangers. If you manage to get all the way through the temple without it collapsing, then you take the figurine itself and sell it for 3 fortune. If you notice most of the temple artifacts refer to 'The Valley', or 'The Mine', or some such, while all the other cards refer to 'The Skull' or 'The Sword' or 'The Cup', so, the temple is more a location than anything else.

RE: Temple Collapse
When a temple collapses, the temple figure is removed, the Artifact and Adventure cards are discarded, and any remaining Fortune is returned to the pool. During the End Phase, replacement Artifact and Adventure cards are drawn to place a new artifact on the board.

The removal of everything related to the temple is to emulate the fact that the whole place was unsteady and came crashing down around you, swallowing the remaining fortune and crushing the temple idol (this is also why you have to make an escape test).
