The Cleansing of Level G1
Just finishes my 1st Game of Doomsday Countdown-from GW via Parns & Noble


The Black Legion attack on the Industrial world of Garatus had been beaten back by the 2nd Ultra Marine
Company.However it was soon discovered that the Hive City of Vantine had been corrupted by the Dark Powers
& led by Chaos Cultist the Hive rebelled against the Imperium.

The Ultramarines quickly reestablish control of the upper City but the Cultist retreated to the Under City
& continued to carry out raids & sabotage thwarting any efforts to return the Hive to the production center it had been.
This greatly disrupted the industrial output of Garatus & it's Government pressed the Ultramarines to cleanse
the Under City.

The Ultramarines were however stretched dangerously thin & did not have the manpower to take on the Under City which
was 50 Levels deep of twisting tunnels & corridors. The Ultramarine Commander Caption Raska studied the small amount
of information that was available on the under City & discovered each level had its own Environmental Control Unit.(ECU's)
He realized if those ECU's could be deactivated the Level they serviced would become unhabitable thus sending down a
Squad of Ultramarines to find the ECU for each Level & disabling it would cleanse the Under City of the Cultist one
Level at a time. Once a Level was cleansed its ECU could be reactivated & the Garatus Goverment will repopulate the Level
with loyal citizens and restore production.

The above is the modified background for the Solo Game Space Marine Adventures Doomsday. The original game background
the Ultramarine Squad is going into the Under city to disarm an explosive device that has been set to destroy the Hive
City. My problem with that is if the Ultramarines fail the Hive City is destroyed which makes playing multiple games
a bit of a downer. So, by changing the Ultramarines Mission from destroying the explosive device to deactivating
a ECU which only makes that 1 Level temporally unhabitable & it makes playing multiple games a bit more logical.

237.M38,Vantine Hive-Level F

Squad Artellus Briefing:

Listen up Brothers our Mission is to cleanse he underground levels of the Hive of
this rebellious chaos scum. At the 5th Cycle the Garatus engineers will unlock the
access tunnel to Level G. Upon breeching we will find & secure the Level's Control
Panel Obtain the codes to the ECU Unit & then locate the ECU & use the codes to deactivate
the device. A Secondary Mission is to seal any access tunnels to the Lower levels to
cut off the rebel's reinforcements. Note that our breeching tunnel will be sealed behind
us so we will need to locate the Level's Elevator to escape before the ECU shuts down.
Each Brother is being issued an Elevator Key make sure to secure them to your armor.
The Key will deactivate if your taken down for security purposes. Also, the ECU codes
are time sensitive so once we find then we need to find the ECU fast otherwise the
control panel deactivates them & we can't wait for 20 Cycles when a new set is activated.
Study these Schematics of our target Level G1 note our objective's locations the access tunnels,
control room,ECU & Elevator commit them to memory as the Level is a warren of passages.

Questions?...

Brother Siceran....Sergeant once we shut down the ECU how long will it take for
the system to purge the Level?

About 6-8 Cycles, our helmets will protect us but the rebels will still be capable of
fighting until then. That's why we need to seal the access tunnels.

Squad dismissed until the 5th cycle.

Level G1-cycle 5.1

OK Brothers the Gratus Engineers have punch us through next to the level Elevator but the drill noise will attract
Cultist soon enough, we need to move fast. Siceran your with me we'll head North East for the Control Room & ECU .
Gallain check out the Tunnels entrances to the North & North East & cover our backs. Check Sergeant.

Sgt. Artellus moves up the corridor headed for the control Room but gets big down in a Pitfall where the corridor has
partially collapsed.

Cultist alerted by the drill noise Blitz to respond. A Cult Elder emerges from a Tunnel & moves toward the disturbance
spying Sgt.Artellus in the Pitfall & fires. Artellus with Enhanced Fortitude manage to avoid being hit.A Cultist Guardian
emerges from a Tunnel moves up the corridor & runs into Gallain. A Cultist Initiate moving out of another Tunnel
meets up with the Guardian. Several other Initiates on the G1 Level move toward the gunfire.

Gallain seeing the 2 Cultist opens up before they can attack him taking out both the Guardian & Initiate & then heads
North toward a Tunnel entrance.

The Cultist are now in a Frenzy to repel the invaders, the Elder however seeing his first attack fail is overcome by
Rear of the Righteous & freezes in terror. An Initiate moves up to cover the cowering Elder & fires on & hits Sgt. Artellus.
More Initiates head toward the sounds of battle.

Siceran moves up to join Sgt. Artellus in the Pitfall

The Cultist are now a Tide of Traitors as they swarm the Ultra Marine Squad. The Elder recovering his nerve fires point
blank on Sgt. Artellus who in the best traditions of the Space Marines "and they shall know no fear" stand firm & takes
the hit.The Elder fires again but misses. The Initiate with the Elders opens up on Sgt. Artellus but both shots miss.
An Initiate fires on & hits Gallain & another moves up behind the wounded Space Marine. Another Guardian emerges from
a Tunnel from the West side of the Level Complex & a Initiate emerges from a Tunnel on the east side. Another Initiate
moves up to reinforce the Elder.

Cycle 5.2

Siceran fires on the Elder wounding him & then delivering the killing shot. Then with with Martial Precision takes
an Initiate down & filled with the Emperors Wrath takes down the remaining Initiate clearing the corridor.

The Cultist Close in an Initiate moves up the corridor to again block Siceran & Sgt.Artellus from leaving the Pitfall.
2 Initiates open up on Gallain but both miss a 3rd Initiate moves toward Gallian.Another Elder emerges from the West
tunnel & Initiates also emerge from North & East Tunnels.

Gallian now fires on both Initiates in front of him taking them both out & hearing another Initiate coming behind him
he swings arounds & takes him out as well.

The Cultist increase efforts to Take Them Down. The Elder & a Initiate move to confront Gallian while another moves
reinforce the Initiate covering the Pitfall to keep Sgt. Artellus & Siceran bottled up. An Initiate fires on Sgt. Artellus
& misses & 2 more Initiates emerge from the North & West Tunnels, a Guardian emerges from the East Tunnel.

Sgt,Artellus unloads on the 2 Initiates covering the Pitfall & takes them both down then orders Siceran to move from the
Pitfall to secure the corridor.He then orders his Squad to use Blind Grenades to disrupt the next Cultist attacks.

The Cultist make a Howling Advance,the Guardian fires on Siceran but the Blind Grenade effects him to miss.2 Initiate
fire on Gallian & 1 makes a lucky hit. The Elder also attacks Gaillin & also hits
lucky hitting the Space Marine & takes him down in spite of the effects of the Blind Grenade.

Cycle 5.3

Siceran fires on a Guardian emerging from the East Tunnel the Space Marine's Auspex Scanner locks on & takes the guardian down.
Siceran then moves to the tunnel & seals it .

The Cultist are Closing In ,2 Initiates & a Elder move toward the Space Marines,a Guardian emerges from the West Tunnel &
2 other Initiates move up the main corridor toward the gunfire.

Sgt. Artellus moves out of the Pitfall & heads toward the Control Room & orders Siceran to join him.

The Cultist make a Berserk Rusk towards the intruders

Cycle 5.4

Siceran moves into the Control Room & gains the Codes

The Cultist now are Howling in their Advance, the Elder & an Initiate move into the Pitfall & fire on Sgt.Atellus but
both miss, other Cultists move toward the sounds of gunfire.

Sgt.Artellus returns fire & takes down the Initiate in the Pitfall but his shots at the Elder miss & he steps back
out of the Elders Line of Sight.

The Cultist Howling Advance continues the Elder leaves the Pitfall & 2 Initiates enter the Pitfall,1 Initiate emerges
from the West Tunnel & a Guardian & 2 Initiates head toward the Pitfall.

Cycle 5.5

Sgt.Artellus fires point blank on the Elder & takes him down he then orders Siceran to join him & give him the Codes.
Siceran in joining his Segreant trips a Hidden mining Charge & tales a wound.

Out of nowhere a Cultist Ambushes Sgt. Artellus but his attack fails. An Elder Emerges from the West Tunnel.

Siceran nevertheless moves forward & fires on one of the Initiates in the Pitfall taking him out. He then notices the
advancing Guardian & sends a burst into him taking him out as well.

The Cultist make a Blitz on the intruders the Initiate who failed to ambush Artellus shoots again misses but his 2nd
shot finds its target & Sgt.Artellus goes down.An Initiate in the Pitfall fires on Siceran wounding him.The Elder &
a Initiate move towards Siceran.A guardian emerges from the Weat Tunnel & a Initiate from the North Tunnel.

Cycle 5.6

Siceran moves to confront the advancing Cultist fires with his Auspex Scanner on an Initiate & takes him out.

The Cultist Close a Initiate fires on Siceran but misses another Initiate emerges from the North Tunnel.

Cycle 5.7

Siceran fires on an Initiate in the Pitfall & takes him out then using his Auspex Scanner targets another Initiate
& takes him out then fires on a 3rd Initiate & takes him down as well.

The Cultist however ignore their losses 7 continue to Close In. Initiates emerge from the North & West Tunnels &
another enters from the South West Corridor.

Cycle 5.8

Siceran now severely wounded makes a desperate attempt to get to ECU & use the Codes to shut it down fires
on the Initiate in the Pitfall & takes him down then jumps down into the Pitfall.

The Space Marine is however facing a Tide of Traitors as Initiates swarm forward & a Guardian fires a blast
as Siceran taking him down.

The Mission to Cleanse Sector G1 has failed.

Nothing like being slapped down by the AI the first time you play. Managed only to seal 1 Tunnel & get the Codes.

Excuses -The Tile lay out was brutal for the Space Marines, The Computer Tile was 5 Tiles away from the Entrance Tile 1 of
which was a Pitfall Tile. The bomb (ECU) Tile was 8 Tiles from the Computer Tile 1 of which was a Trap Tile &
the 3 Tunnel Tiles were placed so as to cover the way to both the computer & bomb Tiles.

The Doom Track was down to 6

Besides the Layout I made some usual 1st Game mistakes by mainly not using the Space Marines individual Skills until
late in the Game & probably use the Wargear Cards up too quickly.

Still I like the Game
