Theme teams
After a recent Co-op game with my son, where his hero (Scarlet Shadow) won the showdown by strength whilst mine provided the brains (the Inspector) I started wondering about Theme Teams.

So next time, using a random villian, I thought about themed teams such as:

The Clever Team
The Inspector, the School Teacher and the Inventor

The Women
Isabella von Took
Lucy Hanbrook

Anyone tried this approach and do they stand a chance without some good fighters?!

RE: Theme teams
We had Eliza the Witch Hunter coop with the Scarlet Shadow. It had a nice vibe throughout play...she had a dislike of secrets and the Shadow was all about the secret identity.

I like when the concepts of the characters mix and conflict. It adds a undercurrent to the story.....

The Inspecter and the Doctor are plays on Holmes and Watson. You can have the Immortal and the Bright Witch for a supernatural pair. There are so many!

RE: Theme teams
In my most recent play the Scarlet Shadow and Sarah the Bright Witch worked very well together. Kind of like a fighter and cleric combo. Lilianna did not work as well with the team though, the trading and all, but her ability to extra roll hits was awesome.

RE: Theme teams
Doctor Edwards and Inspector Cooke have a kind of 'Holmes and Watson' dynamic going on.

Argot Blackwell and Eliza the witch hunter are kind of a hunter tag team, but they are seldom good against the same villains. Either one pairs well with Valeria the eternal to get a kind of 'The enemy of my enemy is my friend/ temporary alliance' thing going.

Katerina the outlaw and The Scarlet Shadow make good 'partners in crime'

+1 on Edwards & Cooke. BUT, they have similar strengths, which was to my disadvantage when I teamed them up vs The Reaper, & he spanked them HARD.

Then I took Liliana up against him by herself & kicked his arse. Zombie17

I'm like some of the rest of you, unlike FanG where it feels more vital to pair up Heroes w. complementing strengths in ATOE I go more for theme. In the above example I regretted it though...Insane19
