Update #52

Toungue Update #52
Well this is a lot to digest and I have mixed feelings.

Wave 2 is obviously going to at least a year away now that
Wave 1.5 has an October projection.

New Cards are being added to the Retail Expansions but KS
backers who have already paid for these Expansions will
need to fork over more $ for them (if they figure out how
to do this WTF ).

Some of the stretch goal & add-on Card Packs you can
order now from the FFP Store-if they were part of your Pledge
their cost is just shipping otherwise their $10+shipping.

The new factory & greater detail figures makes me worried
about Scale, I have enough examples of Expansion Miniatures
being larger or smaller than the Core Sets.

The Door Set has been modified, same number of doors but
it will be 4 Mine & 4 Portal instead of 6/2. Their reasoning
makes sense.

It looks like Expansions will be available at retail long before
the KS Backers get theirs with Wave 2. I think this sucks but
FFP may reopen the Wave 1.5 offer.

In general my feelings are FFP 1st KS was a massive learning
experience the pain of which has been passed on to the Backers.

If they ever do another KS I hope the lessons of SoB will be
remembered and I will certainly take a much harder look at
it than I did for this one.

Really the adding of extra materials to the Retail Expansions
and not including them for the Backers who have already paid
for the Expansions on top of having those Retail Expansions
available months ahead of when the Backers get Wave2
just leaves me with a bad taste. I understand why FFP is
doing this but it's still poor planning and doesn't help
Customer Relations.

FFP gets slack as I realize this was their first KS dance
but still for the amount of $ involved in a MC + Pledge
I think I'm justified in feeling a little pissed.

Amen to that-still I ordered the Card sets available from
the KS Stretch Goals & Add-ons as they were offered at
just shipping costs as they were part of my pledge.

Shipping was under $4 & I covered it with a left over
balance on a Gift Card.

Huh. I hadn't picked up on that point when I saw the update. That...really sucks.

I was a pretty loud cheerleader for the game during the kickstarter, but man, between stuff like this and other general issues with game quality...I've become fairly indifferent to it.

The worst part about it is that I love the concept, and I really should be all over this game, but I'm just not. If FF came to me tomorrow and asked me to write something SOBS related for them, I'd jump at the chance - I still believe in it, and FF that much - but as for playing the game and my enthusiasm for the rest of what I've gotten through the Kickstarter? Not so much.

RE: Update #52
It was their first KickStarter. I tend to give them a pass because I can imagine it must be A LOT to take on, and I venture to guess they really didn't fully know just how much it would involve. Yes, they are a very experienced game company, but they don't usually tend to put out so much content all at the same time like this.

That said, it does still suck. I didn't bother paying extra for the wave 1.5, but now I almost feel like maybe I wish I did if the final wave is going to be THAT delayed.

I also have to say, I am kind of mad at myself, but I still haven't yet bothered to bring this game to the table. I just go so frustrated with constructing the minis that I completely lost my taste for the game. I am determined to eventually finish putting them together, but I just haven't been able to motivate myself to do so.

I have never really done it before, and I am quickly learning I HATE constructing minis. Every time I glue a piece on just for it to fall off as soon as I go to glue something else on, or I sit there for what feels like 5 hours holding a piece on and it STILL pops right off the second I let go, I swear I want to murder somebody nice and slow just to get my anger out in a constructive and healthy way. LOL!

That's just me, though. The miniatures aren't really THAT hard to construct, it's just that it it really not my thing AT ALL.

SP- I trust your using plastic glue or plastic cement for your figs. Regular
Super Glue doesn't work so well.

RE: Update #52
It really doesn't bother me at all. This sort of thing is inherent to the Kickstarter idea. The point is they came out with an incredible game, which is what they set out to do.

And yeah I feel you Staypuft. I got one core set put together and painted but I still haven't gotten around to finishing core set 2. It was fun, but it wasn't easy and I never was able to get my buddies to come over and help paint. They just wanted to be a part of the play group. It's just not my forte, I guess. Don't let it put you off the game though. Our first couple of games we had half glued characters laying on their side with no bases. Hahaha. Everyone I play with has also played Dnd with no visuals though so it wasn't so much a hassle.

Anyhow, I'm glad for the update. Also very happy to see the additional cards they're adding. I don't see a problem in paying for more content. What was the original write up? They said we were getting like 1500$ Retail value in expansions for the mine cart level? A few extra $$$ here and there for the continued support is worth it. I'll be playing this game for years to come. Still playing A Touch of Evil and Last Night On Earth after all.

Nope, never got the game... and as expected no response (other than the automated "received your e-mail" spiel) to my written communication. It's the lack of response and communication all through the process that has me more peeved than not receiving the game.
