RE: What games have you bought recently?
In keeping with my "weird Victorian London" kick
I picked up London Dread.

It compliments my other 2 Victorian London Games
with the SMOG Settings & has a Mythos vibe. The
Game handles solo using 2 or 3 Investigators so it
should be a good fit.

This Game Overproduced!

The Counters & Character Cards are really heavy stock,
the Board is thick, the various Deck Cards are playing
card quality, dice & Tokens are thick Ivory looking plastic.

Not to mention the art work is very thematic.

The Game has 4 Cases to solve (3 are 2 parts) but you
can always use different Investigators & of course the
Dread Cards will be different each Game as well as the
Board set up.

An Expansion is in the works but no date for release.
A Promo Card small Expansions exist that adds more
equipment Cards for the Investigators so I also got
them as well.

HoldFast Pacific

I've had one of my historical Games relapses ,
so I purchased Worthington Games Holdfast Pacific.

It's an updating of an old AH Game Victory in the Pacific.
(which I sold off several years ago). The cool thing
about this Game is that it's a Block Game rather
than counters that the original game offered,
it's also had its fiddly bits streamlined.

The Game concentrates on the Naval Campaigns
& Island hopping. The China/Burma /India Theaters
are ignored as they were basically stalemated and
the real action was with the Navies.

When I picked up the AH Game the lack of being able
to have China/Burma & India land battles was a
drawback for me but now I realize these were really
sideshows that would add nothing but more time &
rules to the game.

The Blocks represent all the Capital Ships individually &
Cruiser Groups for the supporting ships. The Marine
& Air Units are also have Blocks .

RE: What games have you bought recently?
Fallout is a post-nuclear adventure board game for one to four players. Based on the hit video game series by Bethesda Softworks, each Fallout scenario is inspired by a familiar story from the franchise. Survivors begin the game on the edge of an unexplored landscape, uncertain of what awaits them in this unfamiliar world. With just one objective to guide them from the very beginning, each player must explore the hidden map, fight ferocious enemies, and build the skills of their survivor as they attempt to complete challenging quests and balance feuding factions within the game.

As they advance their survivors' stories, players come across new quests and individual targets, leading them to gain influence. Who comes out ahead depends on how keenly and aggressively each player ventures through the game; however, if a single faction is pushed to power too quickly, the wasteland will be taken for their own, and the survivors conquered along with it.

—description from the publisher

FFG has had this Game out for a couple of years but I never really checked it out. Recently FFG announced an Expansion"New California" which did catch my attention & looked interesting so I checked out the Core Game.It scales from 1-4 players and has a Solo variant that really doesn't make like your missing part of the Game.It somewhat reminds me of Fortune & Glory as it looks complicated but the rules are straightforward it just has a lot of them.

I picked up the Game and have started a Solo Campaign ,it has a lot of replay ability there are 5 Survivors to choose from and 4 Scenarios. The Random
Tile set up and multiple choices the cards present keep things fresh.

The Expansion will be out next month & I intend to buy it as it adds 5 more Survivors & West Coast Scenarios.

RE: What games have you bought recently?
I tend to like horror more than others in my group, so it's been hard to get them into actual horror games. We picked up a few so far, along with others with horror elements.

Betrayal at House on the Hill
:A group of townsfolk venture up to local mansion...and things go horribly awry.
:Love it or dread it, depending on the haunt.

Betrayal at Baldur's Gate
:A group of adventurers enter the medieval fantasy town of Baldur's Gate...and things go horribly awry.
:Just got it, but looks really interesting. Basically a mashup of D&D and Betrayal.

Boss Monster
:Monsters lure heroes into their dungeons with treasures, trying to kill them and steal their souls.
:Easy to pick up, takes awhile to learn good card combos. Have a few expansions too.

Dead Men Tell No Tales
:A gang of pirates loot a stronghold of the undead...while it's on fire!
:May seem easy enough, but takes strategy to win as fortunes can quickly turn against you.

Dark Tales
:Dark spin of fairy tales, with a cast of characters to aid you, various locations to find treasures, and of course...villains to spoil your opponents plans.
:Easy to pick up, takes awhile to learn good card combos.

Jupiter Rescue
:Robots rush to escort inhabitants off the space station while fending off hordes of aliens.
:A little goofy. It feels more like a giant puzzle game. Nice minis though.

Last Night on Earth
:Hardly needs any explanation here. LOL
:Played it with another group and finally managed to get our own copy. Zombie17

Small World
:Rise and fall of fantasy races vying for control of a small continent. Some undead race options and lots of combos when paired with "powers".
:There's also an "Underground" underworld version, but it's out of print and hard to find.

When Darkness Comes
:Minions of demons and undead have taken over town. Comes with standalone missions and a campaign (requires several expansions to finish).
:The original rules were clunky, but they eventually fixed them (somewhat) in expansions and compiled a "complete" rulebook over on BBG.
