If a radioactive zombie dies on the meteor space and was not killed by a fire item, I understand that he leaves radioactive residue and all future fights in that space result in rolling 1 die less then normal.

Does the radioactive residue also effect attempts to damage the meteor during the fight zombies phase of the hero(s) turn?
Can you attempt to burn the residue on a space in order to remove it from the board?
