if a building has had a lights out marker placed on it can the heros shoot at zombies or gas markers that are in the building?
Read the Lights Out marker. It says everything rules-related that it does. It does nothing except ending movement within the building. It has no other effect, including combat and ranged combat.

Thats the way we played it at the time but several players did wonder if it was a reasonable assumption that targets would be visible in the dark.
All accepted that searching wasnt a problem assume that the heros were scrabling around on the floor finding stuff.
The assumption is that you can see the zombies scramble around inside the building. They are standing in front of a window, so you can see the silhouet.

The situation that we had was that a gas marker had been left within a building which had since had a lights out marker placed on it and zombies were giong through the building to get at the heros.
A hero with pistol (sheriff anderson) shot at the gas can to ignite it and kill the zombies. We allowed this during the game but in discussion afterwards some players thought that shooting into a darkened room to hit the gas can was questionable. The zombies were not adjacent to a wall but the hero was outside and next to the building.
