If two heroes (in the hero turn) end in a space with 4 zombies, does each hero have to fight all 4 zombies or since there are two heroes can they each fight 2? And does giving up or losing a turn at the truck (to fuel it) in this scenario constitute "ending" in that space?

The last turn of this scenario last night had 4 heroes and 7 zombies on the truck. 4 of the zombies were moved there the preceeding zombie turn. Before the heroes (who had the gas and keys) sped off into dawn and were saved... were they suppossed to each fight the 7 zombies in the truck square for a total of 28 fights? Seems kinda harsh but that is how the rules are sounding.

Some of the group were saying that because there were multiple zombies they were able to divide up the fights. Nor sure what is correct.
During the Fight Heroes phase of the Zombie turn, the heroes split up the zombies. However, during each hero's own Fight phase, he must fight and survive ALL zombies in his space. However, I think if you reread the scenario, you'll find that not all four heros will have to take their turn before winning.
if each hero had to fight ALL of the zombies in the square, that would be ridiculous! Then the zombie team would just put every zombie on the truck!
Them's the breaks!

Don't forget, if the Z player just places all his Z's on the Truck, it would give the Hero players free run to search not only for the Keys and Gas but also for weapons such as the Shotgun or Dynamite which could be used on more than one zombie. Also, the Fire Extinguisher is a great tool for this situation because you can move all the Z's away from the centre square, thus leaving it nice empty for your Heroes.
