Reign of Zombies Wrote:First off, I would like to say that your building of Woodinvale is to say the least amazing.

I love the look and feel that the images give, fitting in with the background perfectly.

I cannot wait to see the finished product in all of its glory.

Keep up the Good work Canadian Pittbull.

Thanks Reign!

I will definately be adding new images and updates when things are completed. This was quite the endeavour but I think this game deserves it. I would however like to state that some members of the community here have also help with their suggestions and Zombie has been more than helpful with his signage and images!
Canadian Pittbull Wrote:I don't think I have any one place chosen as the specific location. More of a small rural town that you would find in any horror flick but Twin Peaks would probably be on the right track for sure.

If I may, and I hope this is not too presumptuous, but I had today off and I was considering this some more.
I went with the Washington State idea since, as I stated, that’s where the Flying Frog people are located and the photos were taken and, of course, there’s plenty of woods. I think we can all agree Woodinvale is in the U.S. as Canada has the RCMP rather than Sheriffs departments. Now here in California, the difference between a Sheriffs department and a Police department is that a Police department’s jurisdiction is an incorporated city, and a Sheriffs department is a county organization that patrols rural areas and unincorporated towns and communities not large enough to hire their own police department. I believe this is generally true throughout the U.S. but please correct me if I’m wrong.
This being the case I think we can agree the Police Station on the map is misnamed and should actually be a Sheriffs station but I think FF went with Police Station as the name would be more definitive to non-U.S. customers.
Usually the Sheriffs department is headquartered in the county seat but many substations can occur. One finds only one true Sheriff per county, with any number of deputies.
Since we have Sheriff Anderson as being a small town Sheriff we can safely assume the county where Woodinvale is located to be one with a low population and no city of real size since that city would most likely be the county seat if it existed. With me so far?

My next thought was the high school name. While I agree Saint Kenneth is an imaginative choice, I feel while this would be a good name for a Roman Catholic High School, it wasn’t the best choice for small town which wouldn’t likely be large enough to sustain a private Catholic high school and an unlikely name for a secular high school.
I therefore make the following proposal (which I hope isn’t too late give the amount of work you folks have done already) . Woodinvale is in Klickitat County Washington.
http://www.ofm.wa.gov/databook/county/klic.asp#03cities
The name of the high school is South Klickitat High. As you can see there are only small towns in this county. Klickitat County is not too far from Fort Yakima for those who want to introduce a military aspect.
So what are your thoughts? I hope I’m not taking this too far.
Great ideas and well thought out however changes are not really in the cards since I just don't have the time to go back and change things and I personally like the St. Kenneth Saints and the image Zombie had come up with.

I guess I put a little bit of thought into what I am looking for in theme but I don't get too picky on the where it is located as I look at it being said generic small rural town that would be found in any B-movie horror film. I trying to find the happy medium between all the different ideas found in some of those flicks and other inspirations and plop them in as I see fit.

I also wanted to keep within the spirit of the board with almost a direct lift from board art to a 3D representation with artistic license thrown in. I think I will just be happy to get the buildings 100% completed instead of playing with empty buildings. I actually hope to get some spare time this weekend to work on pieces for the Garage/Junkyard.
Pittbull, fair enough. I'm sure I couldn't do a image half as good as Zombie did. Keep up the great work.

I hope I didn't cause you to become crestfallen over this? Your insight is very astute and has got me thinking more about those things as I continue with the build so your thoughts are very welcomed.
Crestfallen? Not at all. I wish I had half your ambition in the amount of work your doing on the project. Looking forward to more photos. I'm working on a few virtual projects myself one of which will be a saloon overlay for the board.

Cool! Look forward to seeing what you come up with. I've just been busy working away on interiors and man talk about a pisser! The last few days have been hot and thus the sculpting clay has gotten softer faster in my hands. I got some of the pieces done but as to whether they are exact scale is to be determined. I think at this point just getting them done is on my agenda since I just don't seem to have the time as of late. Also I figure it goes hand in hand with how I have been making things kinda on the quick and the cheap as I felt it also added to the surrealistic quality of being caught up in a B-movie horror film.

once I get the pieces done for the Garage, Junkyard/Road out of town then I will post some more pics.
So I have been adding some signage and sculpting up the pieces for the Garage and man it is starting to take shape. Sure some of the stuff is not exactly to scale but man it does look cool. Plus making it a little bigger lets you see it a bit better. Just finished sculpting up the gas pumps so will put those in tomorrow and then get some cheap toy cars and smash them up for the junkyard.

It is really coming together...I really cannot wait to post some pics for folks to see.
Should have more pics up for this project soon. Been pretty busy as of late and just haven't found the time to work on anything lately. But the interiors are going. I got the Gas Station interior done and wow! I will have to get some pics up soon and you can see what a bit of Super Sculpy and a little MacGyvering can do.
So set this up again recently as I have a couple friends who haven't played the game yet and wanted to try it out. Figured it would also give me initiative to finish the interiors. I put it away for a few months cause I was just so busy with other things. Now I just want to complete it and be done with it.

Almost finished the gas station. Just have the interior of the junkyard and one building will have been fully completed. Then I will for sure post some new pics. It seems to have been so long ago.
