I will probably practice on a few more throw away minis before I have the nerve to work on some of the pieces I actually use...

That is honestly much better than my first figure I painted. You've shaded the dragon flesh and bone with brown (looks good) and painted the base dark which in this case makes your model stand out. The bone talons look great very neat You should be happy with that. Now have a try at highlighting

Ya! Another painter. Excellent job! Looks really clean detail-wise, and that wash came out pretty solid too. I would say go for it on those LNOE minis. I am glad I did.
If that is your first model...consider yourself to have some skills
