If anyone is wondering, the flag painted on the base on the character
represents their starting location. Let me also add the Rio De Janeiro has
the hardest flag to free hand paint...
more pics
Hope you guys like them, I worked pretty hard on them. Maybe by next
week and can post the Villains.
Ah I see you finally finished them! Great Job!
I originally had the same idea but chickened out of actually painting the flags when I tried the first.

Really excellent work, Pred.
That is some ridiculously awesome work. Nice job
@ zombie67, when are you going to post your pics? I was going
to start the Villains last night but I got side tracked with the
mobsters. They are a quick easy paint.
Painting the bases that way is a master stroke! Was it your idea Pred? You've painted the bases so well they draw attention away from the figures! They must have took you ages but it was well worth it. Your basic coat is going on very neat and smooth. Your shading has plenty of depth. My only tip (if you don't mind me saying) is I think they'd look even better with more highlighting (drybrushing/layering) so you have a good illision of light and dark on the model. Good work all round and yet again...
+1 rep keep at it you're getting better every time!
Thanks Trev. Yes it was my idea to paint the flags on the bases, I
wanted to do something unique and add a little extra flavor to them.
Only 3 on them were mildly difficult but the Rio state flag, was a night
mare. I didn't really post that great a picture of the base (Cartwright)
but my wife says its the most impressive when compared to the original.
I wish I had a smaller brush for better detail but she thinks it great.

All in all, each one all together took 4-5 hours maybe. I've been getting
better at mixing 3 of the same color with light to dark for shading, and
working at watering down the paint and applying extra coats. Dry
brushing is something I just don't feel comfortable or really don't
understand if I am doing it correctly yet. Either I wipe to much paint
off the brush and brush continuously with out noticing a difference,
or don't wipe it off enough and a huge glob of paint goes where I
don't want it too, lol, and get super frustrated at having to fix that
area. I am still practicing with it so when I get it down Ill come back
and add the finishing touches.

I brought up 3 different pages from then site last night, 1 with my
zombies, 1 with heroes, and then the third with these. Its amazing
how you can see the progression. I say this to anyone reading, it's
because of the advice Trev gave in his forums about painting AND
watching some youtube vids to actually see how its done.
Amazing! Astounding! Impressive! Those bases are completely off the hook. They look great. It makes me want to try a similar approach if I ever get FANG. Imitation is the highest form of flattery. Not sure I have the freehand skills to pull it off, though. You should be very proud of these.
