We played Zombie Pillage last night, but the zombies won on turn 6 or 7, and we realized we must have played it wrong.

First off, we let the zombie players each play seperate turns. But when it came down to Pillaging, this meant the zombies got to pillage almost twice as much.

We realized there could be any number of solutions to this, but the rules didn't state which one was correct. So,

Do all zombies move at the same time, regardless of how many players there are?

Or

Do the first players move their zombies, then the second player? In that case, is the entire turn done this way, or just the individual phases?
The zombies has only one big turn... they act together in all phases of the zombie turn.

that's all...

Also if you want separate turn for them... one could only take your own zombies into account to use the pillage rule... so the game would still be balanced...
I guess why I want them divided is because I want a reason for there to be two zombie players, if the game allows it. Otherwise it seems so pointless. Why allow it, when there are no benefits? No gameplay mechanics change? It's just two heads, rather than one, but that can not always be a good thing either.

Also, is this specified in the rulebook somewhere? I re-read it the other week and couldn't find anything about it.
Hi. Its kinda hard to point out. You really have to read it as a single Zombie Player with rules for 2 zombie players

LNOE Rule book
page 9
Draw new Zombie Cards
The zombie player has a four zombie card (two each if there are two zombie players) ....

Roll to Spawn New Zombies

second paragraph below box text

If there are two zombie player,....

Page 10
Move Zombies

second paragraph
You may move each of your zombies.....

Last sentance
Once all Zombies have been moved....

I feel the game is meant for one zombie player with exceptions for a second.

Hope that help
Well, at least you get to ignore the overall rule of even distribution on spawning pits...

No. Still can't see the point of having 2 ZPs.
Now comparativelly

Playing as 2 zombies has the following strenghts and weakness

Advantages:
- Each player may discard 1 zombie card at the start of the turn. Instead of discarding a single card as a single zombie player.

- Easier to spawn zombies. Each player rolls a 1d6 and take into account only it's own zombies, this provides and independent roll instead of the bell curve that 2d6 provides.

- May forgo the rule of equally distribute zombies. You only take your zombies into account while spawning new ones, so both players may spawn in the same spawn point without having to colletivelly distribute their zombies equally.

Disadvantages
- Slower gameplay. The strategy may become very diffuse with 2 zombie players.

- Easier game for heroes, IF the zombie players don't function very well as a team.

- Some zombie cards get really nerfed because playing with 2 players makes then activate only for certain zombies.

Great sum up. Sadly the disadvantages greatly overshadow the advantages.

I believe if you are playing a single zombie player you are allowed to discard 2 of your 4 cards the only difference in playing with two zombie heroes is everything is split in half....number of cards in hand, discard amount, zombie pool etc.....therefore the statement that you get to only discard 1 as a single player zombie is incorrect.

The rules on this may be changed due to some Scenario Special rule but for the general rule, j0hnnn's right. As stated in the rulebook pp. 9: Before drawing up, each Zombie player may discard up to one card from their hand if they wish. Therefore, you don't get to discard two cards if you're the only Zombie player. One card each, that's it.
It's a shame really, because the scenario itself was really fun. Zombie Pillage, that is. Short and fun. But next time we'll know!
