So I have this idea for a generator but no clue how to go about doing it. I would like the actual case for it to be a clear/foggy casing with 2 or 1 small light bulb inside with the ability to switch between yellow and red. I can imagine this shouldn't be too difficult except for the keeping it to scale part.

As you might be able to tell I like to challenge myself with new ideas...

Anyone have any ideas or recommendations? I've never done any type of electrical or anything of this sort before, but I'm guessing that it would take a small battery with a tiny switch to go from colors to on/off and the light bulb I could most likely get from a hobby store for trains. That's the important part. Making it look like a generator wouldn't be that hard.
A simple three way switch (off, color1, color2) wouldn't be difficult... And for lights the wiring's simple...

Here's for a simple binary switch. Basics.

Here's a wiring diagram for a three position switch (NOT a "three way" switch...).

The only difficult part will be (a) making sure your battery/switch/LED will all work together with the right power levels and (b) making it fit. Not that it will be dangerous or anything... Just could lose a lot of current to waste.

Really, just experiment with it.
