Great cards! Love the Wonderwaffe!
(Just a note on semantics though --> +2 should be 2+, +3 should be 3+, etc. The "+" should trail the number.)

The Katana is actually way too powerful, especially for a starting weapon for your character. The only way to lose to a hero is for the hero to roll a 1.
I would suggest that it just does an instant kill on 5+ much like a Meat Cleaver. And keep your other stuff for the break test.
Also, does your Japanese Soldier get an extra fight dice for any item or just weapons? That gives him 6 fight dice for without the possible combat bonus a hero gets from his hand weapon. There is a character from Hero Pack 1 Victor how gets an extra fight dice for every hand weapon, so that limits it a bit more on the fair side. Just a thought as well.

I believe that it means that anytime the character rolls a 1 in combat, its an instant kill.
