Hi, everyone,

After taking a little over a year away from it, I finally put some time into working on my LNOE 3D board again this past weekend. I'm to the point where I'm happy to share some work in progress pictures. One thing of note, I am building a board that will be roughly double the size of the board that comes with the game. For my 3D board, each regular square is 3" on each side. In order to make buildings to a more proper scale to the miniatures, I had to increase the size of the squares. Oh, and the zombies in the pictures are not the zombies from the game but rather some custom zombies that I built using several different miniatures kits.

I'll be using this thread to post updates as they become available. Please feel free to leave comments.

Thanks!
-Steve

Ok, I've finally completed my first L-shaped board, the Church/Graveyard/Police Station. Actually, I should say that the actual buildings are complete but I do intend to add objects to the interiors of the buildings (like benches and a pedestal in the church or a desk and filing cabinets as well as a bed and toilet in the police station/prison).

I'll update the photos once I've added these items.

First up, a couple of shots of the buildings together in one L-shape layout (the "board" is actually done in four different pieces.)

Here are some separate action shots from the Church and Graveyard.

Some shots of the Police Station. Again, I still need to add some interior items. I also plan to add a "Woodinvale Police Station" sign out front.

Next up is a work in progress shot of the Farmhouse. I need to add a second door and window and, like my other buildings, still plan to add interior items (like a kitchen, sofa, tv, maybe a fireplace.) I also need to stain the front porch and add a couple of steps in front.

This work in progress picture is The Barn. I need to add doors and interior pieces and, of course, place it on a grass board.

This last picture will likely be my last update for the time being. This is as rough of a work in progress picture that I'm comfortable showing. This is the start of the Diner:

Amazing!
That's a lot of painting effort on top of the assembly, wow.
This project is looking awesome! Keep at it!

Thanks for the kind words.

For those interested, the buildings were created by pouring plaster into molds to create bricks, putting these bricks together into solid walls, and then gluing them to foamcore. Once glued, I hand-painted the exerior walls. The church was done with molds from HirstArts, the Police Station used molds from Linka, and the Farmhouse was done with a combination of the two.

Other than the church, the interior walls of the buildings are just decorative scrapbooking paper glued to the other side of the foamcore.

The only exception to this, so far, is the Barn. For that I used foamcore as the foundation and glued individual strips of balsa wood (these were coffee stirrers) to the foamcore on both sides. I then covered the walls with a red oak wood stain and then, once that dried, went back over them with slightly watered down red paint.

For the flooring inside the buildings, this is either made from additional plaster molds (Chruch and Police Station), foamcore with glued decorative paper on top (left side of Farmhouse) or small crafting tiles used for making mosaic designs (right side of Farmhouse and Diner).
Finished up a second complete L-board.

Added a back door and windows to the Farmhouse. Added doors to the Barn and based it on a grass board. Built the Cornfield. As mentioned before, I still need to add interior items to the buildings (and paint the front porch of the Farmhouse.)

Here's a couple shots of all the three pieces together as one L-board:

Holy bejeesus, this is awesome! I love the detail you've put into it all - from the cornrows, to the interior flooring to graveyard walls and outdoor steps. It looks incredible!
