The Preacher cannot normally use guns.

The Redemptionist upgrade card says he can use double-handed guns.

The Hell Pistol says that any hero can use it regardless of class restrictions.

If I'm understanding this correctly, a Redemptionist Preacher can use two-handed guns, but the only single-handed gun he can use is the Hell Pistol, right?

I'm pretty sure I'm right on that, but I've seen people reading the Redemptionist upgrade to mean that he can then use all guns (including pistols) instead of just double-handed ones.
