They DO love their expansions, don't they. I mean, obviously I'll buy it, but it's pretty cynical.

Gotta keep the Money Tree watered. It's a tried & true business model which most
successful Game Publishers use; Games that sell well get Expansions.

FFG does at least make their expansions add something to the Base Game
(so does FFP) so I don't think it's completely cynical as they are responding
to customers desire for more material to the Games they like( as long the Base
Game sales are healthy).

I have found Games Workshop the most cynical in their business practices
every few years they revise their money makers WH & WH40K which makes
you buy new rule books & new models to keep currant.

Oh & yes I'm just waiting for Strange-Remnants to hit preorder.

Yes, but in the case of EH in particular, the base game was pretty skimpy and then an expansion came out 4 months later. It's just another way of making us pay more, and I'm not keen on it. Look at Baseball Highlights 2045. Great game, but only came with 4 teams. Concurrently, they released 4 mini-expansions. Now, three months later, there's another 5 or 6 that add half of the major league teams, so inevitably there's another wave to come soon. I didn't realise I was getting into a LCG when I bought it. By the time it's done, I will have paid far more for it than I ever intended to.

You do wonder if an expansion comes out just a few months after the base game why the
material wasn't included in the base game.
