This is a question for admins. I was just wondering why there are so many banned members. Once in a while, I check the member list and the number of banned members and unactivated accounts is stunning.
Does this website get hit by a ton of bots?

Yes we seem to get hit in droves mainly from Russia/Ukraine/China . Sarku has spamware in place but
a lot seems to get through. You can see from the banned names there fairly easy to spot.
I run them through a Spam Reporting site to check out those that appear suspect & either ban or place
on moderation( in questionable cases). For those Spammers who make it to posting there knocked out
as soon as a member reports them or the Mods notice.
I'm not sure why we're such a magnet for Spam but it's not unusual to get 3-5 Spammers joining a day
usually in spurts within minutes of each other.

I ran a forum many years ago for a game the wife and I played, and it appears that Forums are a soft target for spam-bots as they are very easy to script the making and verifying of accounts. This also keeps OD from getting to bored.
If it weren't for the mods, especially OD with his super time-zone powers, you guys would be seeing pornographic material ALL THE TIME.
