Meet Max Monkey, Monster Masher.

This is his story, the story of a monkey (well, ape, really), his mallet (or is it more of a maul?) and the monsters he mashes (yeah, we're pretty clear on the monster part).

Max was just a simple ape, living a simple life in a simple village, until the demented Heinrich Hammler attacked Max's home village. Max's best friend, monster-hunting hero Boaris Kurloff, fought valiantly against Hammler's forces, but disappeared in the carnage. Now Max, armed with Boaris' legendary hammer The Monster Masher, scours the land for the truth about his friend's fate, and deals with the vampires, glitter zombies, house cats, mermanatee, lawyers and Things Monkeys Were Not Meant To Know along the way.

With grim determination, a steely gaze and a secret passion for interior decorating fueling his crusade, Max strives to make the world safe for the likes of the hero-worshipping Monkeyangelo and Max's childhood sweetheart Chimperella...but can even Max be prepared to face his ultimate destiny and the strange truth about his friend?

And, yes...there WILL be poo.

Myself, Werner Mueck and Ben Soto have entered Small Press Idol 2010, which is a contest for amateur comic book creators. The winning team gets a cash prize, a four issue publishing guarantee and an action figure based off of the winning comic.
