Non FFP Gaming? - Old Dwarf - 09-14-2008 09:08 PM

The hot muggies have hit Gods Armpit (S.Jersey)again
& I just can't seem to work up the desire to play
LNoE or AToE when its in the 80's & humid.

So I'm waiting for that crisp Fall weather for FFP
in the meantime here's what I' working on:

I get the most kick from the Hobby from working out campaigns
by combining Board Games(s) with minatures.

I've created :

-A Middle Earth Quest using GW LotR figs &
The old Warhammer Quest Game.

-Dawn of The Hyborian Age (Hybori vs Archeron) & Royal
Hyborian Age (Conan Mercenary Captain days) Campaigns
using HoTT & Baccus 6mm figs

-WarZone Campaigns using Space Marine/Epic systen & figs.

-Solitare version for FFG Game of Thrones

-A Tannhauser Campaign using A&A Board Game with Memoir 44
Board Game

- A 100 Years War Campaign using Warriors of God Board Game &
BattleLore (minus Lore & Fantasy figs).

Recently I put together a Fantasy Fall of The Roma Empire
using The long OoP "Barbarian Invasions-Sack of Rome
Game" & the Battue Games from RedJuggernaut "Storm
of the Horse Lords" & Expansion "Walls of Tarsos "with
Baccus 6mm Ancient Line figs.

I'm also working on additional fluff as a background for AToE
& thinking about reworking Arkham Horror to play more like
AtOE.

So what non FFP Gaming activities have the rest of you
been up to?

hurm.

I responded to this, but it disappeared!

I've been playing a bit of Tannhauser. I really dig that setting.

Other than that, I've been doing some painting of my Alpha Forge stuff (Sci Fi Tabletop skirmish game)

Not my best stuff, as I'm a bit rusty with the old paint brush: Take a gander:

Thanks!!

If you ever want to check out some more of my painting, here is the link to my Cool Mini or Not gallery.

I used to be quite prolific as a painter, but I really just wanted to play the games. Eventually I found board games, and more specifically LNOE...so my painting days are now few and far between.

I've got about 30 zombies waiting to be painted now...maybe I can start them before Halloween!

Very cool stuff Vike! I too was heavily into the GW and other miniature games but found it was getting harder and harder to keep peoples interest or find people to even get into the game(s) so I decided to get into painting more boardgame pieces. I should post some of my other bits and pieces I have been working around with.

Rusty or not they look good.

I painted 100's of figs for GW LoTR & for Warhammer Quest
& then really went wild on Baccus 6mm figs,I think I
like the painting part better than gaming! but since
finishing up my Hyborian Project early this year I haven't
picked up a brush.

That will change as I'm ordering some more 6mm stuff
for my Fall of Roma project.Painting seems to be
a mood thing with me & I usually follow a few months of
daily work with 3-6 months of just slacking off.

I prefer to paint from 20 minutes to an hour after dinner
& get in a couple of hours during the weekends(in 20
minutes or so blocks).

Cool looking figures and great paintjobs SV!

But...uhm...what's FFP gaming?

Recently I have picked up Resident Evil 4 for the Wii again....and I'm eagerly awaiting House Of The Dead: Overkill (check the trailer)...but I guess that's not FFP?
Couple of days ago I played AXIS & ALLIES Mini's with my friend Zoas. Fun little WW2 skirmishes.
KING TIGER FOR THE WIN !! Zombie17

I played Halo 3, Oblivion... (probably 175+ hours), Fallout 3 looks awesome, I'll probably also get Mirror's Edge.

ahh real zombies sounds fun. I'd play that. You'd have to have a ton of people though... that'd be hilariously fun.

I used to play Magic... I was quite the player at one point in time. But I've since sold all my cards except for a few I really liked... like Jasmine Boreal and Righteousness... beautiful art.

I lost my playing partner... so I might have to start playing LNOE in a solitaire fashion.
