Zombie Dawn - Old Dwarf - 09-27-2008 03:47 PM Ok Zombie fans,in LNoE you get to take over a small town for fun & brains, but is that all there to your ambition? Is occupying the local diner or the gas station really satisfy your little Zombfied heart? Well what if instead of Fly Speck USA you had a City-yes a City- a whole City to take over-Think About it! You have ? I know a City, wouldn't the 82nd Airborne or at least FIMA step in-TV coverage up the wazoo- its too much suspension of belief to handle.Plus where are you going to get a City that fits your game table? The answer gentle Zombie Fans is the City is located in an alternative Roman Empire of the 3rd-4th Century. No need now to worry about massive TV coverage & carpet bombing or even FEMA,you can get back to a comfortable suspension of belief level(Shit happens in the 3rd & 4th Centuries) Now back to the City-it exists in the Board Game Battue' Storm of the Horse Lords"- 60+ beautiful City Tiles on a big game board & when its set up,it looks like a Roman City, from hovels to Temples.Plus its randomly set up & the game includes more City Tiles than you need so its a different City every time. The following is a Battle Report where the local neighborhood Zombies(in this case the Gotha) attempt to clean the City of Tarso clock. This is a Test Game for our " Fall of The Roma Empire"Campaign,City Game.Without going into the considerable background its an alternative Barbarian Invasion of the Roman Empire with the Barbarians being various fantasy races, the Undead being one.I've modified the Battue rules to give the city defenders a more active role,so lets see how the Zombies due. Heres the BGG Link for the Game: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/27823 RE: Zombie Dawn - Old Dwarf - 09-27-2008 03:49 PM Death & The City Cassius Decius stood on the wall in the pale light of the false dawn, looking out over the great ragged Horde before his City.It was unnerving they were silent as death, which they were.By Jupiter if they would just sound a horn or a war cry, anything but this awful Silence! The Governor allowed himself a moment of self pity, only 3 months from an honorable retirement back in Roma & now THIS-his 15th Legion shattered & his City now under siege.Could the City Garrison & the remains of the 15th Legion hold out until reinforcements arrived? Brainnnnnnnnnnnnsssssss.... the soul chilling hiss from a thousand dead throats made Cassius realize there was something worst than Silence!!His attention snapped back to the Gotha, whose witch hags had now unleashed the shambling Horde toward the City walls. The City Garrison responded with the call of the battle horns summoning the garrison, the attack had started!! Cassius left the wall, passing City guardsmen hurrying to stations.Reaching his personal guard he sent a Centurion to find the Emperor's Niece & escort her to the Palace.Another twist of fate,to be hosting a member of the Imperial family at a time like this-the damn girl was causing him to divert troops urgently needed for the walls. Oh well,no sense troubling over what had to be done & with that Governor Cassius Decius, Proctor of Noricum Ripense & Lord of Tarso set off to his Palace to direct the defense. And behind the departing Governor the City of Tarso held its breath for the coming attack! The Dead had came to Claim the Living!. RE: Zombie Dawn - Old Dwarf - 09-27-2008 04:05 PM The game is still being played at this point-we found that it needs a bit more tinkering to keep the game from just being a Set Piece where the players keep their units together & avoid conflict at anything less than over powering odds. The orginial game avoided this by having players needing victory points the City Tiles gave but our varient doesn't use them so working on some ideas to make players spread out their units more . So far the Undead attacking the Western Wall haven't made it into the City being repulsed by the City Guard & elements of the Legion. The Attack on the Western Eastern Wall has been more successful with the Undead overunning servral city sections, but an attack on the Governors Palace was tgrown back by the Palace Guard. I get a proper Battle Report up when we finish up. OD RE: Zombie Dawn - mqstout - 09-28-2008 01:08 PM But then how are you supposed to use a chainsaw? Well..........yes:shy: I said there were a few things to be worked out OD RE: Zombie Dawn - Sarku - 09-28-2008 03:38 PM The chainsaws are powered by peasants... running around in a circle... REALLY FAST. RE: Zombie Dawn - Emp - 09-28-2008 04:04 PM Maybe Ash dropped his chainsaw and left it there. After the middle ages tour he might have popped over to see the romans before he went back to his job at S-Mart RE: Zombie Dawn - Sarku - 09-28-2008 10:53 PM Emp... that's just silly. Totally implausible. |
