How do you protect your character cards? - alderdust - 07-16-2012 07:39 PM

So i recently invested in sleeves for my decks for LNOE and its expandsions...then I wondered...how do people protect the giant character cards from damage? I thought about laminating them but it seems scary to try....anyone tried anything that seems to work really well?

Some information if you want to know....

LNOE Cards are 64mm x 89mm.

If you own:

Last Night on Earth: 126 cards total.
Growing Hunger: 50
Hero Pack 1: 10
Survival of the Fittest: 76

So a total of 262 card sleeves would be needed...I just purchased penny sleeves to protect the cards from finger oils and the edges...since the cards are pretty hearty and thick anyways i wasnt worrying about them bending.

I've been using transparent card sleeves and it is doing quite well... they're still perfect!

I've found that the large character and scenario boards work quite well without lamination. They're built sturdy, and don't get handled nearly as much as the other cards do.

Only problem we've had is when we introduce expansions. The shiny new character cards and L-boards, stand out.
But since we introduced a ton of custom characters too, now we shuffle under the table and have the heroes pick a number between 1 and whatever and count down through the deck.

My biggest problem now is our custom hero deck cards. They stick out badly when shuffled into the deck and since they are usually powerful weapons, people will do their best to draw down to them.

Yeah I don't use any custom characters...I did put my deck cards in penny sleeves and it works nice but the deck got so large it wouldn't fit back in normal box...the deck stacks got huge almost doubling in size I had to de sleeve them to put the game away until I find a better option.
