In the spring of 1877, three men arrived in the village of Saltmarsh in Washington Territory. Each of them had goals and aspirations of their own, but they would soon be thrown together by the strange events that surrounded that isolated town on the Pacific coast. Soon, others joined them.

On July 27, we continued the Down Darker Trails campaign online, tentatively named Pacific Northwest Fears. We're starting off using the Advanced Dungeons and Dragons scenario "The Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh" as well as the D&D campaign "Ghosts of Saltmarsh" adapted to Call of Cthulhu in the American west.

This session saw some confusion when a Confederate commerce raider appears on the waters outside Saltmarsh. Then the investigators and two excise men from town search the smugglers' ship.

The roleplaying game journal of the session is here:

https://www.yog-sothoth.com/blogs/entry/3627-searching-the-sea-ghost/

Players are:

Yorie Latimer as Hugh Pierre Luckheart aka Jack Justice (greenhorn)
James Brown as William Hazard (dilettante)
Aaron Frager as James Jones Jr. aka Tex (teamster)
Sean McPike as Loren Hutton (journalist/author)

In the late summer of 1004 A.D., the small group flees from Canterbury, fearful of pursuit by the church. They head into the wilderness, but return to Gloaming Thicket to try to end the evil they know lies there.

On August 7, I ran another online game of Call of Cthulhu, this time Cthulhu Dark Ages, as the investigators flee their duties to the church, retrieve the documents, and return to Gloaming Thicket.

The roleplaying journal of the scenario is here:

Players were:

Matt McPike as Brother Drake (monk)
Aaron Frager as Birhtnoth the Smith (craftsman)
James Brown as Aelfric (scholar)
Sean McPike as Arlyss the Giant (trader)

This session saw the confusion after the fire, a search for the missing prisoners, and another visit to the haunted house, this time for nefarious reasons. Death quickly follows ...

On September 14, we continued the Down Darker Trails campaign online, tentatively named Pacific Northwest Fears. We're starting off using the Advanced Dungeons and Dragons scenario "The Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh" and now "Danger at Dunwater" as well as the D&D campaign "Ghosts of Saltmarsh" adapted to Call of Cthulhu in the American west.

This session saw Loren Hutton finally recuperated after his terrible injury on the Confederate commerce raider as well as the hearing for William Hazard and Tex concerning the murder of Jack Justice. Finally, a familiar face comes to Saltmarsh for the first time: Professor Brandon Stalloid.

In the winter of 1004-1005 A.D., the small group winters in Llanfor Abbey and explores the strange Lake Bala nearby. After the spring thaw, they head out again.

On October 9, I ran another online game of Cthulhu Dark Ages, as the investigators spend the winter at a friendly abbey before heading for the capital of Gwynedd.
