The Wendigo - Old Dwarf - 10-09-2014 12:32 PM Another of My October Mythos reading & the last of pre-Mythos ones that influence the mythos. The Wendigo by Algernon Blackwood written in 1910 is a straight forward Mythos read. Again Blackwood an outdoorsman shows his use of nature to create creepy outdoor scenes. The book is really a short story being just under 40 pages but seems longer in a good way. A group of hunters after moose in the Canadian wilderness stumble into a shunned region & encounter what Blackwood calls the raw untamed spirit of elemental nature. It's a concept he explored in "The Willows" but this time it's personalized into a being the Wendigo. The Wendigo was absorbed into the Mythos as the Wind-Walker ,Ithaqua. Good read & the story has aged well. OD RE: The Wendigo - Wasteland Jack - 10-14-2014 06:43 PM I love this story. It is a perfect blend of intrigue and unsettling.
