RE: Painting Manhood restored - Old Dwarf - 01-07-2017 02:32 PM Finished - 186 figs & out. Just about 2 months from when I started. OK I still have the spray protection coats (a shot of Gloss Varnish & then one of Matt to kill the shiny. I won't do this for at least couple of weeks to make sure all the paint is dry/set. My brushes made it to the finish line (barely) my paints (mostly Warpaints ) made it even some of my years old GW paints hung in there. I have ordered 3 new brushes to replace the shattered veterans (Insane detail, Detail, Small Drybrush) and pots of Warpaint Uniform grey, Army Green & Angel Green) for my next planned painting project. (the green's are for GoW Cogs & the grey for the Locust uniforms). The new supplies will take at least a week to get to me . I think in the meanwhile I'll see if my old brush is up tp painting some Locust skin (I'm using Ash Grey from Warpaints). Well at my age everything hurts anyway but I only paint in about 20-40 minute segments & I have a comfortable chair. The person who created the ZBP figs had a thing for leg wrappings & rope belts which were an eye strain to paint even with my magnifying glasses. My next project is my long neglected Gears of War figs & they are a mass of belts & buckles. I really don't see any of them on either side could handle taking a crap as it would take forever getting everything undone OD RE: Painting Manhood restored - Old Dwarf - 05-23-2017 03:54 PM Lets see the prior post was in Jan & its now late May and my Gears of War Project inches along. I done the Cogs figs (4 Base Game plus 4 more conversions figs). I just finished the Base Game 6 Drones and still have around 50 figs to do. I did a lot of conversions based on the 1 Expansion FFG did before the Game went OoP so I made myself double the number of figs I need to paint. I don't know why this Project takes so long (well besides I don't paint) maybe it's because of all those buckles & belts just don't motivate me. The only reason I just finished the Drone figs was because I added companion dogs figs to Zombicide Black Plague and painted up the dogs. The Drones were still on the paint table & I just felt guilty not finishing them. I love the GoW board game & doing all the conversion work but painting them just seems to be a chore. The figs have been setting around base coated as I did the SoB Minecart Wave 1 figs and Zombicide Black Plague figs. It was just a metaphor besides I can't really paint it in its current condition ,however dry brushing would work nicely. OD |
