RE: The Brimstone Mines Users Guide
Thanks GD- I'll never look at the Piano Player miniature without
thinking of your comment. I'm still not totally convinced about women holding certain occupations-The Women Gunslingers examples were not the traditional Western Archetype rather they were Wild West Show Sharp Shooters (Pearl Hart & Rose Dunn would fit better in the Outlaw class) .Still there isn't any reason why in a Wild West Show Sharpshooter wouldn't be part of a Brimstone party, so I correct that by just calling her a sharp shooter. Kate Warne- I don't think she ever got west of Ohio but she does fit in the lawman class. My trouble with that is she was truly unique I'll need to research some more to see if Pinkerton hired more Female Agents during the SoB Game period. The Miners-It's mainly the Granny Clampet(sp?) miniature FFP is using which let me to restricting that Class. She seems a bit old for the occupation. Cowboys- The women examples were either Wild West performers or better described as Ranchers IMO. Probably my Restrictions have more to do with how I interpret the Western Archetypes than anything else. The Samurai- lots of Chinese but I just don't see a a Samurai in full regalia traveling around the old west. This is interesting & I don't argue that in reality there weren't women & even a Samurai in the classes I restricted. I just find it hard to fit them in to the Western Archetypes that SoB Heroes represent. So I'll amend my Set Up to allow Female Gunslingers by calling them Sharpshooters & if Pinkerton did hire Female Agents besides Warne I'll add them to the Lawman (somewhat Ironic name-I guess Law Persons?) OD Sighing like the night wind and sobbing like the rain,— Wailing for the lost one that comes not again: |
