Cthulhu:Death may Die

Cthulhu:Death may Die
Official Blurb" In Cthulhu: Death May Die, inspired by the writings of H.P. Lovecraft, you and your fellow players represent investigators in the 1920s who instead of trying to stop the coming of Elder Gods, want to summon those otherworldly beings so that you can put a stop to them permanently. You start the game insane, and while your long-term goal is to shoot Cthulhu in the face, so to speak, at some point during the game you'll probably fail to mitigate your dice rolls properly and your insanity will cause you to do something terrible — or maybe advantageous. Hard to know for sure.

The game has multiple episodes, and each of them has a similar structure of two acts, those being before and after you summon whatever it is you happen to be summoning. If any character dies prior to the summoning, then the game ends and you lose; once the Elder One is on the board, as long as one of you is still alive, you still have a chance to win.

The episodes are all standalone and not contingent on being played in a certain order or with the same players."

So is this the one? I have over the years acquired many Lovecraft
Mythos Games. They all have come up short for me, some are
just too limited in scope (how much Horror can Arkham stand)
or simply a grab bag of Mythos monsters that have no relation
to the GOO your investigating/opposing. Even my favorite Eldritch
Horror although it covers globe spanning Missions & has
specific minions based on the GOO gets abstract when it comes to
combat.

Cthulhu: Death May Die is a Dungeon Crawl ,the Investigators
come from cities all over the world (so it's easy to fluff out a
Location for the Episode your playing). The Minions match up to their GOO & as the Inv. already are insane it gives a good rational for
actually combating a GOO.

As usual I missed the KS on this & now it's in a couple of days
of its release. CMON has as usual packed a load of KS Exclusives
which add so much to the Game it makes buying retail seem
like getting half a Game.So as usual I checked Ebay & found
a listing for the Game & all the stretch Goals for a fairly reasonable
price ( as opposed to other kidney taking offers) & won the bid
( thus killing off my Game budget till at least January).

Another bonus is that its 1-5 players(Investigators) vs the
AI Mythos forces so I don't need tp work out any Solo Rules.
Of course there are those damn COMON extra buys so their
are 2 Expansions I'll need to get when my plastic recovers
but they will be available Retail.

So This may be it!

OD

PS. I broke down & bought the 2 Expansions off ebay. Now to just endure my wife's wrath.

Sighing like the night wind and sobbing like the rain,—
Wailing for the lost one that comes not again:
