Not to flog a dead horse, but . . .
. . . here's a great article which sums up what I was trying to say better than I did. The original Evil Dead had very little to no humor, it was a straight-up horror. Most people who are upset with the new Evil Dead are getting it mixed up with Evil Dead 2, which IS a horror/comedy. Here's the article, and I highly suggest the original poster reads it (I'd be interested to hear thoughts on it):
