RE: Sci-fi Action Boardgame?
This is an oldie..but it's what really sold me on
Board Games with figs.. Siege of the Citadel-based on the WarZone World, Mutant Chronicals)modular boards,a ton of plastic figs & a neat game mechanic(inc Cards) it had it All before there was an All -supported from 2-5 players -level up of forces -co-0p or competitive play among the Corp.Forces -modular boards & the Citadel piece made it look cool on the table. -weapon upgrades -high fig count-(The Dark Power had 28 the corps had 2 each-& their are 5 Corps)The Corp Figs were all unique & the Dark power 5 Troop types -random deployment -Secondary Missions besides to overhall victory condition -Simple but effective combat system for both range & melee(nice hit die) -cool backstory It was Scernario based but it was easy to create your own. By todays FFG/FFP standards the card tiles are thin but the plastic figs (25MM) stand up well. Basically your elite squad were going into an enemy strong hold & conduction a mission. The Dark Powers forces were hidden until your forces until you entered the tile they occupied & Dark Power reinforcements were random. The Warzone World had 5 Dark powers but the Game only used the forces of 1 although a mag.based varient added another & another also added another "Hero"The Brotherhood (a Catholic Church on steroids!) Too bad FFG didn't rework & add to this Game rather than that Mutant Chronicals fig game they came up with. OD Sighing like the night wind and sobbing like the rain,— Wailing for the lost one that comes not again: |
