Questions on Martian Fighting And Angelica's Teamwork Talent

I played IFOS for the first time the other night and had fun with with it but there were a couple of questions that came up.

First, how does the fighting work for each phase? We played it like this: In the Hero phase, the Hero must roll two fight dice and fight each Martian in the space. The Martians roll a fight dice for each Martian in the space. There were three Martians in the space, so the Hero rolled 2 fight dice, three times (one for each Martian). Each Martian rolled 3 fight dice, one time. The higher roll for each fight won. If the Hero won, the Martian took a wound. If the Martian won, the Hero took a wound.

In the Martian phase of the fight, The Martian pack of three rolled three fight dice, one time while the Hero rolled 2 fight dice, one time. If the Hero rolled higher, one Martian took a wound and the fight ended. If the Martian pack rolled higher, the Hero took a wound and the fight ended. Is this correct?

Secondly, the Hero player wanted to use Angelica's Teamwork ability on Cassidy's Trck Shooting. Can that be done if Angelica doesn't have a gun or does it represent Cassidy shooting to protect Angelica?
